Abstract: Embodiments of present disclosure relates to a wheel assembly that can be used with mouse or other input device. The wheel assembly includes a wheel, a magnet for generating a magnetic field, and at least three magnetic sensors for sensing an absolute angular position of the wheel. The magnet coupled to the wheel and operable to rotate with a rotation of the wheel. The at least three magnetic sensors are arranged within a plane that is located in a predetermined distance from the magnet and substantially parallel to a main direction of the magnetic field generated by the magnet. Compared to the conventional sensors that measure the relative position of the wheel, such multiple magnetic sensors based wheel assembly enables a direct absolute angular position measurement.

Abstract: A pointing device is provided. In one implementation, the pointing device includes a body, a control member received in a recess of the body and rotatable with respect to the body, a first rotation tracking sensor arranged in the recess and configured to track a rotation of the control member about a first axis and a second axis perpendicular to the first axis in a Cartesian coordinate system that is defined with respect to the recess, and a second rotation tracking sensor arranged in the recess and configured to track a rotation of the control member about a third axis perpendicular to the first and second axes in the Cartesian coordinate system. An associated method of manufacturing the pointing device is also provided.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a viral capsid polypeptide capable of inhibiting viral packaging, the viral capsid polypeptide consisting of a portion of a viral capsid protein of an RNA virus and including a multimerization domain of the viral capsid protein. The invention further provides an isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding such a viral capsid polypeptide. Expression vectors and host cells comprising the nucleic acid molecules are also provided, as well as a method for inhibiting viral packaging in a host cell by expressing the viral capsid polypeptide. In two preferred embodiments, the RNA virus is the ScVL1 virus or the ScVLa virus of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
