    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method of flocculation, wherein harmful cyanobacteria are flocculated via metal-organic framework, and wherein the metal-organic framework comprises chromium, which is environmentally friendly. Water-stable Cr(III)-based MOFs, structured as NH2-MIL-101, remove harmful algal blooms, such as Microcystis aeruginosa, from natural water sources by promoting flocculation. NH2-MIL-101(Cr) MOFs efficiently remove harmful algae from water without creating secondary pollution and without causing the harmful algae to release intracellular toxins.

    Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a method for detection of presence and/or quantities of silver nanoparticles in a specimen. The method includes the steps of a) providing a detection organism suspended in a medium, b) treating the detection organism with zinc ions thus effecting auto-fluorescence therefrom, and then measuring degree of fluorescence of the detection organism suspended medium, c) adding the specimen to the detection organism suspended medium, treating the detection organism therein with the specimen for a period of time, and measuring change of fluorescence of the detection organism-suspended medium over time, d) calculating amount of silver ions intracellularly dissolved from the silver nanoparticles and accumulated in the detection organism in view of the change of fluorescence, and e) extrapolating quantity of silver nanoparticles in the specimen in view of the change of fluorescence and the amount of the intracellularly dissolved silver ions.

The probes can sense or detect silver ions through aggregation or a precipitation reaction between the silver ions and the organic compounds which induces fluorescence.
