  • Patent number: 10965655
Abstract: Embodiments of this invention relate to methods and apparatus for establishing additional simultaneous packet data network (PDN) connections between a User Equipment (UE) and an evolved packet core network (EPC) over an untrusted WiFi network. The UE is attached to the EPC through a security gateway over a first PDN connection over which the UE is authenticated and has established an Internet Key Exchange Security Association (IKE SA) and a first Internet Protocol Security SA (IPSec SA). The UE then establishes an additional PDN connection using a new IKE request/response exchange or an enhanced IKE CREATE_CHILD_SA exchange that is cryptographically protected using algorithms and keys negotiated during the first PDN connection, hence improving delay and battery life of the UE as the UE no longer needs, for each additional PDN connection, to negotiate an individual IKE SA and to authenticate the UE.

  • Patent number: 10586614
Abstract: A computer-assisted method to timely provide notifications of treatments, the method including receiving de-identified longitudinal medical records, each de-identified longitudinal medical record representing a record of a different anonymized patient and encoding information identifying a treatment received by the anonymized patient and receiving notification data including notification records, each notification record encoding information identifying a channel through which the notification was provided. The method includes determining a first channel impact model representing an impact of a notification provided through a first channel on a treatment being received, a second channel impact model representing an impact of a notification provided through a second channel on a treatment being received, and determining a multi-channel impact model representing an impact of notifications being provided through both the first channel and the second channel on a treatment being received.

  • Patent number: 8154252
Abstract: A process for monitoring the status of a battery. Steps of the process include measuring a battery current and comparing the battery current to a predetermined threshold. A battery status is determined as one of charging, discharging and quiescent. For a battery charging status determination, the charging state of charge of the battery is computed. For battery discharge status determination, the discharge current is compared to a predetermined threshold. Based upon the discharge current comparison, a basis for the discharge current is selected from one of a plurality of predetermined discharge conditions and the discharging state of charge of the battery is computed for the select discharge condition. For a quiescent status, the quiescent state of charge of the battery is computed. The computed state of charge of the battery is provided in a quantitative form.

  • Patent number: 7806095
Abstract: An engine starting assist system. A battery is selectably coupled to an ultracapacitor with a contactor. In addition, a controller is configured to perform at least one of: monitor the condition of the battery, monitor the condition of the ultracapacitor, control the flow of energy between the battery and the ultracapacitor by selective actuation of the contactor, receive a start input control. The controller issues a start output control to a starter solenoid of the engine, such that energy stored in the ultracapacitor may be used to at least one of charge the battery and provide cranking current to a starter of the engine in conjunction with the battery.
