  • Publication number: 20100245397
Abstract: A method for driving a display apparatus, according to one or more embodiments of the present invention, provides a luminance representative value of a unit light-emitting block that may be determined from an external image signal of a plurality of image blocks corresponding to the unit light-emitting block including a plurality of light sources. A luminance compensation value of the unit light-emitting block may be calculated by compensating the luminance representative value. Pixel data of the external image signal in a central area of the unit light-emitting block and a boundary area may be corrected based on the luminance compensation value. A driving signal may be provided to the unit light-emitting block based on the luminance compensation value. Accordingly, a phenomenon in which a boundary of the unit light-emitting block is visible is removed so that the display quality of all image may be enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20090284509
Abstract: An image display device employs an interface protocol wherein integrated image plus control data is transmitted from a signal controller circuit to each of a plurality of master data driving circuits. The integrated image plus control data includes display control data as well as image-defining data. The signal controller circuit determines which of a plurality of data driving circuits is to function as a master data driving chip and which as a slave data driving chip. The signal controller circuit directly transmits respective integrated image plus control data signals to corresponding ones of the master data driving chips. Each master data driving chip then forwards part of the received integrated image plus control signal to its corresponding slave data driving chip.

  • Publication number: 20080252504
Abstract: A technique for removing vertical stripe artifacts generated in a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panel, more particularly a technique for compensating for and removing an inter-channel offset voltage of a column driver, which causes the vertical stripe artifacts, is disclosed. An offset voltage generated in each channel for driving each pixel of the LCD panel is detected for a whole signal path and offset voltages detected for all channels are compared and extracted according to a given timing sequence by a common signal comparator, thereby preventing the offset of the detection comparator and reducing a chip size of the column driver in contrary to the prior art. Moreover, an inter-channel offset voltage is detected in a digital circuit mode, thereby compensating for process variations in a semiconductor chip manufacturing process in circuit terms.

  • Patent number: 6717468
Abstract: A versatile amplifier circuit for driving a TFT LCD panel is disclosed. The amplifier circuit of the present comprises consists of a complementary input stage, biasing switches, and a rail-to-rail output stage. A signal-transfer switch determines which of two differential amplifiers in the input stage will drive the output stage of the amplifier. A biasing signal precharges a capacitor between the gates of output stage. The rail-to-rail output stage utilizes the precharged capacitor to maintain a voltage required to operate the output stage properly. A polarity signal is used to control the signal-transfer switch. The polarity signal specifies if a lower half of the input stage or an upper half of the input stage is used to drive the output stage of the amplifier circuit. A non-active transistor is kept turned-on above the threshold voltage for quick switching of the output driver. In one embodiment, a coupling capacitor is used between output stage transistors is for this purpose.
