  • Patent number: 5395485
Abstract: A large-scale coking reactor including a housing provided with a chamber and with outer and inner chamber frames, a displaceable outer door elastically compressed against the outer frame and formed with a respective elastic peripheral seal compressible against the frame and with an outer high temperature membrane interposed between the door and the seal and elastically pressed thereagainst to seal the door opening, a displaceable inner door spaced from the outer door and formed with an inner high temperature membrane interposed between the inner door and the inner frame to fit elastically the inner frame, the inner and outer doors being releasably interconnected upon displacing the outer door, so that the doors are mounted in the housing to be operatable either selectively or in combination with one another.

  • Patent number: 4552623
Abstract: A coke oven door comprises a flat sealing diaphragm which is secured between and spaced apart from the door body and the door plug and is provided on its periphery with sealing knife edges which project against the door frame. The sealing edges are pressed against the door frame by bias adjustable springs, through spring loaded plungers. The door plug is formed by a plurality of individual plug elements closely adjacent to each other and supported by associated plug holders, and the sealing diaphragm is firmly screwed in place between the door body and the plug holders only in the upper and lower zones or areas of the door. In the intermediate zone, the diaphragm is connected to a back-up plate and to the plug holders and held adjustably spaced apart from the door body.

  • Patent number: 4412891
Abstract: A coke oven door assembly which is engageable in coke oven frame comprises a door body with a sealing diaphragm which has a clamp leg portion which extends substantially parallel to a surface of the door and a free leg portion which extends substantially at right angles to the clamped leg portion. An adjusting element overlies the clamped leg portion and is clamped in position by a clamp assembly which carries a fixed bar in a movable part which bears against the free leg portion and is biased by a spring into engagement with the free leg portion. The free leg portion is adapted to have a knife edge portion at the end thereof engaged against the door frame and any displacement of the door relative to the door frame will be indicated by a change in position of the movable part carried by the clamp.

  • Patent number: 4238293
Abstract: A maintenance and repair station for the maintenance and repair of charging cars of coke oven batteries comprises an elevator which has a cage with a trackway which forms a portion of the roof trackway over which the charging car operates and which may be shifted to a different elevation, for example, downwardly to position another trackway portion identical in length with the first in a position in which it forms a portion of the trackway over the coke oven battery. In this matter a charging car may be loaded onto the elevator and lowered to a repair station or raised to a different repair station while another track may be orientated in a place taken by the trackway portion of the elevator which also forms a portion of the trackway over the coke oven roof.

  • Patent number: 4131421
Abstract: A coke oven construction for the fastening of furnace door frames to the armor of horizontal, blockwise arranged coke oven furnaces, comprises a furnace which has an armor plate with a portion offset inwardly toward the furnace which carries a furnace frame which is sealed to the armor plate. A metal plate overlies the portion of the armor plate which extends outwardly from the frame and it has an edge which projects from the armor plate in a direction toward the frame. A hooked member is engaged over the edge of the plate and an eye bolt is threaded into the hooked member and provides a bolt for the pivotal mounting of a toggle which has one arm which bears against the frame and another arm which extends upwardly alongside an anchor stand which is mounted over the plate of the armor.
