  • Patent number: 5439558
Abstract: A print substrate, in particular paper, has a coat on one or both sides, which contains ungelatinized starch granules and kaolin as coating pigment and possibly one or more additional mineral pigments and binder and wherein the content of the starch granules is 2 to 25% by weight with respect to the total coating pigment; the binder proportion--with respect to the total pigment--is less than 12% by weight calculated as parts by weight when dry; the gloss of the coat after calendaring is greater than 40% as measured at an angle of according to Lehmann; the mineral coating pigment comprises at least 60% by weight of kaolin and the mineral pigment component and starch granules make up the remainder to 100% by weight of the total coating pigment.

  • Patent number: 5334449
Abstract: In the abstract No. 75-35061W of the WPI, Week 7521, Derwent P. L. London (citing JP-A-118906/1974) there is disclosed a paper with a cover coat applied by the cast coating process, for whose preparation first a prime coat is applied whose pigment composition consists of 30 wt. % of kaolin and 60 wt. % of a polystyrene pigment, and whose binding agent composition includes 10 weight-parts casein and 16 weight-parts of a carboxylated butadiene-styrene latex. After this prime coat has dried a mixture of 80 weight-parts of kaolin, 20 weight-parts of calcium carbonate, 10 weight-parts of casein and 8 weight-parts of a butadiene-styrene latex is applied and the applied composition is pressed at a temperature of C. against a chrome-lacquered surface.

  • Patent number: 5314753
Abstract: A matte printing paper, excepting bank note and security document paper, especially for offset or intaglio printing, is coated with a composition containing calcium carbonate as a coating pigment, a binding agent for absorption of printing ink and 10 to 65% by weight, based on its total solids content, of ungelatinized starch granules, except rice starch granules.

  • Patent number: 5221054
Abstract: A rotor which is to be used in an impact crusher has a set of coaxial discs with radially inwardly extending peripheral recesses for elongated beater bars which are parallel to the rotor axis and each of which extends into a discrete recess of each disc. The beater bars have male or female detent elements which cooperate with complementary female or male detent elements of the discs at the rear sides of the beater bars to prevent radially outward movements of the beater bars in actual use of the rotor. The front sides of the beater bars are engaged by wedges which are biased radially outwardly against the beater bars and against the respective discs by fluid-operated thrust elements in the recesses of the discs. Each thrust element has a piston rod which bears against the respective wedge and urges the wedge radially outwardly in the respective recess, and each thrust element reacts against an elongated rail which is installed in the deepmost portions of a set of aligned recesses of the discs.
