  • Publication number: 20120198803
Abstract: A filter device has a compact filter made of a filter material that is wound spirally. A star filter that is made of a filter material that has folds arranged in a star shape surrounds the compact filter. The filter device has a cylindrical shape. A fluid to be filtered passes the compact filter in an axial direction and the star filter in a radial direction. The filter device is exchangeable and is mounted in a filter housing such that the compact filter and the star filter have a common raw side and a common clean side that are separated from each other.

  • Publication number: 20110259199
Abstract: The intake air filter (10) according to the invention is for cleaning intake air for internal combustion engines, in particular in vehicles. To this end, the intake air filter (10) comprises an openable housing (11) with an inlet (16) and an outlet (17). Disposed between the inlet (16) and the outlet (17) is a filter element (18). In order to check, when the housing (11) is closed, whether a correct filter element (18) has been properly installed, a filter element identification device is provided, which, designed as a dome (28), corresponds to an additional opening (29) in the housing (11).

To this end, the intake air filter comprises an openable housing (10) with an inlet (14) and an outlet (15). Disposed between the inlet (14) and the outlet (15) is an annular, closed main filter element (17) and an annular, closed secondary element (31). The secondary element (31) is connected to the outlet (15), whereby no contamination can pass through to the outlet (15) when the main filter element (17) is replaced. A centering device (29, 30, 40, 41, 42) is provided on the end face opposite the outlet (15) between the secondary element (31) and the main filter element (17), said centering device being used to fix the position of the secondary element (31) within the main filter element (17). This prevents relative movements between the main filter element (17) and the secondary element (31).

  • Publication number: 20110138761
Abstract: The invention relates to a filter unit which comprises at least one housing and at least one filter element the front faces of which allow a liquid to axially flow through. Said filter unit is inserted across at least part of its length into a tubular filter protection element (10) and is connected thereto and has, on its outer periphery, at least one continuous sealing collar which is supported on the filter protection element and can be forced against a sealing flange on the housing by means of tensioning elements. Said tensioning elements are constituted by at least one insertion ramp (25) on the housing and at least one projection (15) on the filter protection element (10), which projection slides down the insertion ramp. The insertion ramp (25) extends from a point of insertion (25.5) in the interior of the housing in a direction at an angle to the direction of flow towards the housing (23) and in an axial direction towards the scaling flange on the housing (23).

  • Patent number: 6474284
Abstract: An air routing system, especially an air intake system of an internal combustion engine, which makes optimal use of available installation space by integrating a bypass channel (25) into an air intake module (10). The volume of the bypass channel also provides an acoustic shield for the collector chamber or plenum (22). The free area (13) behind the mounting flange (11) that is required for screwing in mounting bolts in order to mount the air intake module (10) is used by an air intake hood (14) which can be installed on the filter housing (15) after the air intake module has been mounted. This assures that there is a greater volume available in the filter housing (15), thereby reducing the noise at the inlet opening of the air intake module.
