  • Publication number: 20190126558
Abstract: A method of generating control data for a manufacture of a three-dimensional object comprises the following steps: identifying surface data in a computer-based model of said object that correspond to a surface of the object, which is destined to get into contact with the fluid, determining the flow path adjacent a portion of said surface in said computer-based model, modifying said computer-based model such that support structure data are added to the model, said data specifying a support structure designed to be in contact with said portion of said at least one surface during the manufacture of said object, wherein said support structure data are added to the model such that at least one contact region between the support structure and said portion will essentially extend in parallel to the flow path adjacent said portion, preferably deriving control data for the manufacture of the object from the modified model.

  • Patent number: 8882457
Abstract: A multistage radial turbocompressor has at least first, second, and third intake parts each forming a respective intake spaced along an axis and first, second, and third output parts each forming a respective output axially juxtaposed with the respective intakes. Respective first, second, and third fans having axially directed vanes are rotatable in the housing formed by the parts between the intakes and outputs. A shaft centered on the axis carries the first, second, and third fans. One of the fans is back-to-back with another of the fans with the vanes of the one fan facing axially oppositely away from the vanes of the other of the fans. Radial bearings support the shaft in the housing, and an axial bearing between the one fan and the other fan supports the shaft in the housing.

  • Patent number: 8366379
Abstract: A turbomachine has a housing, a rotor shaft extending along and rotatable about an axis in the housing, and a pair of axially spaced axial-thrust bearings in the housing carrying the shaft and normally only permitting a predetermined small axial displacement of the shaft in the housing. An impeller is rotationally fixed on the shaft. An axially fixed transmission gear is rotationally coupled to the shaft and has an axially directed gear face. A collar fixed axially on the shaft has an axially directed collar face confronting the gear face and normally spaced from the gear face by a clearance equal to more than the predetermined axial displacement. Thus on failure of one of the bearings and axial overtravel of the shaft the gear face and collar face engage each other and limit axial movement of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 8172503
Abstract: A turbomachine has a shaft mounted in a shaft housing, and a rotor in a rotor housing at one end of the shaft, for compression, expansion, or transport of a working gas. The shaft is mounted by hydrostatic, gas-lubricated bearings that have a connector to a compressed gas line that is connected with a pressure region of the turbomachine. A portion of the gas that is passed from the pressure region is applied to the bearing. The shaft is mounted so that the bearing effect is at least extensively independent of the rotational speed of the shaft, thereby guaranteeing support of the shaft during startup of the turbomachine, and good rigidity and low sensitivity to pressure surge stresses. The pressure in the connector to the compressed gas line is at least 5 bar greater than the pressure in the region of the ventilation connector.

  • Patent number: 7278818
Abstract: A turbomachine for low-temperature applications has a housing, a rotor shaft disposed in the housing, an impeller disposed on one shaft end of the rotor shaft, to which a cold gas is applied, and an electrical machine integrated into the housing. During operation of the turbomachine, a cold zone (K) forms within the housing, in the impeller-side end, and a warm zone (W) forms at the end facing away from the impeller. The housing has at least two compressed gas connectors for a compressed gas, of which one connector is disposed in the cold zone (K), and the other is disposed in the warm zone (W). A control device establishes the flow-through direction for the compressed gas based on temperatures in the cold and warm zones, and controls valve devices on the compressed gas connectors accordingly.

  • Patent number: 6948320
Abstract: An expansion turbine stage for compressed gases has a housing and a turbine rotor. The housing has flow guide channels for feeding the compressed gas to the turbine rotor. The turbine rotor, which is over-mounted and has centripetal flow through it, is followed by an out-flow diffuser enclosed by the housing, to delay the cold expanded gas. The out-flow diffuser is arranged in a holder bore in the housing, as a separate component. For thermal insulation of the housing relative to the cold expanded gas stream, the out-flow diffuser is made of a non-metallic material having a low heat conductivity.
