  • Patent number: 9062421
Abstract: A protective system having a protective device for tension members for collecting ice accumulations detaching from a tension member that is anchored on the structure in a first abutment and in a second abutment. The tension member is exposed to climatic conditions by the section running between the abutments. To guarantee protection from falling ice accumulations, the protective device has a hose-shaped envelope, which surrounds the tension member on the circumferential side. The hose-shaped envelope is disposed on a partial longitudinal section of the tension member in an axially compressed or folded manner in a first operating position, and is movable, with the aid of a drive system, to a second operating position, in which the hose-shaped envelope extends over the length of the tension member in the stretched state.

  • Patent number: 7950093
Abstract: A tension member is provided for structures, in particular a cable stay for a cable-stayed bridge, in which one or more tension elements, such as steel rods, steel wires, or stranded steel wires, run inside a tubular sheath. The tension elements fill only a portion of the cross-section of the tubular sheath, so that a remaining unoccupied area is left. In order to prevent the tension elements from moving in the transverse direction with respect to the tension member, there is arranged in the remaining unoccupied area of the tubular sheath a filler body that extends over a limited longitudinal section of the tension member and includes a deformable sheath, which tightly encloses a hollow space that is delimited on all sides and can be filled with a filler medium.

  • Publication number: 20020134631
Abstract: A device for determining the pressure between a contact wire and a pantograph of an electrically-powered vehicle is provided with a measuring device for the static pressure that is determined from the distance between two elastically-connected components, the distance being a function of the static pressure, the device further having an acceleration sensor, which is coupled with the pantograph for determining the pantograph accelerations occurring in the direction of the pressure. The output signal of the acceleration sensor is linked with the output signal of the measuring device for calculating the pressure. The acceleration sensor is embodied to include a seismic mass (3) that is resiliently mounted to the pantograph (6) and whose respective position relative to the pantograph is optically detected, and a corresponding light signal is transmitted to an optoelectrical converter that is potential-isolated from the pantograph (6).

  • Patent number: 6418397
Abstract: An improved device for measuring the contact force between a contact wire and a power collector in an electrically powered vehicle, specially an electrical railway vehicle, by use of optical fiber force sensors. To this end, two compact force sensors are arranged between the base body (7) of the contact strip (6) and the pantograph rocker frame (5) or between the wearing element or shoe (8) and the base body (7) of the contact strip (6). Each sensor includes a deformable body (11), which is elastic in an axial direction but highly rigid crosswise, with the body being fitted with an integrated optical fuber reflex sensor (19). Axial deformations of the deformable body (11) equivalent to the contact force are detected by the reflex sensor (19) with high resolution, accuracy and no interference, are then signaled to a device (27) via optical fibers requiring no potential and converted therein into contact force-equivalent signals (28) or instructions (29).

  • Patent number: 4948099
Abstract: A cap with a covering portion to cover a post having a rectangular-shaped cross-section for holding woven fencing having longitudinal rods. The cap is formed from a sheet metal blank and has a cover component that may be secured to the post. This cover has a width equal to the width of the post, and a depth which is greater than that of the post. The cap has an excess portion which extneds beyond the depth of the post and is provided with cut-outs along a section of an edge adjacent to the post. Free ends of sections connected to the cover have joggs extending from the cover to the cross-section of the post and matching cross-sections of the longitudinal rods in the fencing. These sectoins connected with a cover have excess portions extending beyond the depth of the post with slits to form webs extending to bases of the excess portions.

  • Patent number: 4910933
Abstract: To create a post for enclosures, partitions, and similar structures consisting of several parts and involving a strip of hollow structural section that will allow the rapid and rational assembly of such enclosures as bar-grid fences and similar structures, whereby disassembly will be impossible without destroying the components, the length (2) of hollow structural section has a gap along one side flanked by two separated flanges (3), which extend either inward or outward and between which are accommodated webs (4) that match the shape of each flange and that are part of a length (5) of more or less T or .pi.-shaped structural section that closes off the gap, leaving room outside on each side of the flanges between the length of hollow structural section and the matching sections of a spine (6) on a length (5) of T or .pi.-shaped structural section, whereby the length of T or .pi.-shaped structural section can be locked into the length of hollow structural section.

  • Patent number: 4440363
Abstract: A landing mat for compacted terrain is formed by assembling a multiplicity of mat elements in contiguous relationship. Each of these elements has a rectangular plan configuration and is formed along its longitudinal edges with downwardly bent flanges, and between these flanges, with flattened corrugations forming longitudinal ribs perpendicular to the planar upper surface of the element. Stabilizing plates can extend transversely to the ribs and flanges and can have upwardly open slots snugly receiving the ribs. Clips bridging contiguous edges of adjoining elements are fitted into elongated windows spaced inwardly of these edges to hold the elements together and an edge member, likewise having a flattened-corrugation rib, is fixed along one edge of the mat and has downwardly turned tongues fitted into the window of the elements along the latter edge.

  • Patent number: 4068542
Abstract: A drive arrangement for transport vehicles is operative for moving a step plate between operative positions so that passenger access to the vehicle is facilitated. The drive arrangement includes a turnable shaft coupled to the step plate, and a motor coupled with the shaft for turning the latter about its axis and for moving the step plate between its operative positions. An uncoupling device disengages the motor from the shaft so that the step plate can be manually moved. The drive arrangement also comprises a switching arrangement having first cam parts spaced from and about the shaft, and second cam parts mounted on the shaft for joint rotation therewith. The second cam parts each have a predetermined angular position relative to the shaft and to the first cam parts for controlling the operation of the motor so that manual movement of the shaft upon uncoupling of the motor therewith forceably positions the second cam parts to retain their respective predetermined positions.
