  • Patent number: 5348392
Abstract: The apparatus is adapted to be held in one hand of an operator from mixing components of a composition packaged as two or more individually stable components of substantially equal volume and viscosity each in a receptacle having a closure made of a material which can be ruptured, and to dispense the mixed composition by a manual operation. The device comprises a mixing housing, separate chambers for the receptacles, piercing means for piercing the receptacles, plunger means for expelling a component from the chamber into the mixing region, a mixing element in the mixing region, and a passageway which contains means for actuating the mixing element and through which the mixed composition may be expelled from the mixing region.

  • Patent number: 4966468
Abstract: The mixing device is used for mixing multicomponent materials or for homogenizing compositions which are contained in a cartridge (10) which is closed by a piston (15) having a passage opening (19). The latter is primarily closed by the shaft (22) of a mixing member (20). Said shaft (22) may be coupled to a rod (23). By a drive or by manual operation, the rod (23) may be rotated and moved axially at the same time. While the piston (15) stays, where it is, the mixing member (20) is moved through the cartridge (10). Upon termination of the mixing operation, the mixing member (20) is locked at the piston (15) by a holding member (32) in order to unscrew the rod (23) from the mixing member. Subsequently, the cartridge may be inserted into a squeezing tool in which the piston (15) is advanced for squeezing out the composition.

  • Patent number: 4869403
Abstract: The conventional cartridges which contain adhesive or sealing compositions, involve the risk for the piston to adhere to the cartridge wall. Part of the composition is cured by air or moisture penetrating into the cartridge. To avoid such an adherence of the pistion, it is provided, according to the invention, that the piston (19) is first accomodated in a guide member (16) completely separately from the pasty composition (12). The composition (12) is included in container (11). Upon the removal of a cover (15), the guide member (16) may be connected to the container (11). The piston (19) may then be introduced into the container (11).

  • Patent number: 4799801
Abstract: The pasty components of a multicomponent material are first contained in separate tubular portions (11,12) which, prior to the mixing operation, are assembled together to form a cartridge (10) having a cylindrical inner wall and in which a mixing means is accomodated which consists of a rotationgly driven disk (21) and of a relatively stationary disk (18). Via a rod (29) projecting out of the cartridge (10), disk (21) is drivable by a rotating tool. By reciprocation of the rotating tool, both disks (18 and 21) are moved axially to the cartridge (10). Upon the mixing performed by displacing and redistributing of the materials, the piston (13) is advanced in order to squeeze the mixture out of the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 4452370
Abstract: A piston-shaped bottom closure for a hollow container has a closing member arranged so that when the closure is inserted into a container the closing member extends transversely of an inner wall of the container, a hollow guiding member extending from the closing member in an axial direction so that in the inserted condition of the closure the guiding member is guided by the inner wall of the container, at least one sealing lip provided on the guiding member and abutting against the inner wall of the container in the inserted condition of the closure, and a cover member arranged on the closing member at its side facing toward a storage chamber of the container and having a contour substantially corresponding to the contour of the closing member, wherein the cover is composed of a material having a different elasticity than the closing and guiding members and the sealing lip and is provided with an edge which extends towards the guiding member and overlaps an outer edge of the closing member so as to be arrest

  • Patent number: 3964641
Abstract: A dispensing receptacle has an internal chamber in which a piston is accommodated and separates the chamber into two compartments. The material to be dispensed is accommodated in one of the compartments which communicates with the exterior of the receptacle via a dispensing arrangement. A container with pressurized medium is accommodated in the other compartment and has a valve which, when actuated, releases a predetermined quantity of the pressurized medium into the other compartment so as to act on the piston and displace the same toward the dispensing arrangement with a concomitant dispensing of the material. An actuating arrangement is provided for actuating the valve of the pressurized medium container. A foil originally separates the one compartment from the dispensing arrangement, and the dispensing arrangement is provided with a cutting projection which perforates the foil so as to establish communication between the one compartment and the dispensing arrangement.
