  • Patent number: 5018673
Abstract: In an annular mixer for the wetting of solid matter, in particular for the wetting of fibrous material with a binding agent, a plurality of cutting devices are provided, downstream of a wetting zone and a subsequent secondary mixing zone and upstream of an outlet, in a radial plane relative to the shaft, for the reliable separation of clusters.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 20, 1989
Date of Patent: May 28, 1991
    Assignee: Draiswerke GmbH
    Inventors: Paul Eirich, Werner Christen
  • Patent number: 4862826
Abstract: In an apparatus for the continuous gluing of wood chips and the like with liquid glue, the chips are raised from a longitudinally moved chip bed and are returned into the same in free fall in the form of chip mists. The glue is exclusively supplied to the chips by pressure atomization by means of a plurality of pressure atomizing nozzles. In order to achieve good gluing quality with limited mixer dirtying and easy operation, glue distribution takes place in the chip mists substantially over the entire length of the chip bed and alternately at least one nozzle is closed, while at least one nozzle is open.

  • Patent number: 4785967
Abstract: A liner for a cylindrical container (1) of a mixer for mixing materials that tend to adhere has at least one plate (18) of antiadhesive plastic, which is interchangeably located on the inner wall (9) of the container (1). In order to devise a largely unsecuted and thus easily mountable linear, the at least one plate (18) is elastically pressed radially outward, in the vicinity of the ends of the container (1), against the inner wall (9) of the container (1) by at least one tension ring (21, 22). The tension rings (21, 22) comprise smooth, plate-like plastic preventing the adhesion of materials.

  • Patent number: 4527902
Abstract: In a method for the continuous addition of glue to a mixture consisting of wood chips, wood fibres or the like, the mixture is moved helically, in the form of a ring of mixture, through at least one glue-applying zone of a mixing container where glue is supplied to the mixture substantially radially from the inside of the ring of mixture. In order to achieve a particularly satisfactory distribution of glue over the chips or fibres with the use of little energy and so little destruction of the chips, the glue is very finely atomized in the space situated inside the ring of mixture and is supplied to the ring of mixture largely radially. For this purpose, glue nozzles, to which glue can be supplied under pressure by a glue proportioning pump, are mounted on the shaft of the mixing container.

  • Patent number: 4390285
Abstract: A system for mixing of wood chips or the like with glue which involves an intensive movement of the chips during the addition of the glue and a subsequent thorough mixing of the glue and the chips in a ring of material to be mixed, is characterized by steadily accelerating the chips out of an axial motion via a centrifugal and helical motion and by the addition of the glue during this acceleration, the acceleration to the velocity of the ring of material to be mixed taking place only following the addition of the liquid.

  • Patent number: 4316671
Abstract: An apparatus for mixing solid particles and a liquid, especially wood chips and glue. A motor-driven stirrer in a cylinderical trough continuously mixes the materials which enter at one end of the trough and are discharged at the other end. The outlet of the trough has a pivotable throttle with a counterweight which controls the degree of opening of the throttle. An electrical signal related to the load on the stirrer motor is the control signal for a control loop whose final control element displaces the counterweight to maintain the electrical load of the drive motor approximately constant.
