  • Patent number: 11965447
Abstract: A method for controlling an exhaust-gas aftertreatment system of an internal combustion engine having at least two SCR catalytic converters connected in series. The exhaust-gas aftertreatment system has a bypass including a bypass valve around the first SCR catalytic converter, and exhaust gases of the internal combustion engine are routed around the first SCR catalytic converter via the bypass. The method includes: ascertaining an activation of an exhaust brake operation; ascertaining a first actual temperature for the first SCR catalytic converter; ascertaining an actual NH3 storage level for the first SCR catalytic converter; ascertaining a modeled, maximally permitted NH3 storage level as a function of the actual NH3 storage level; ascertaining a future temperature for the first SCR catalytic converter; ascertaining a comparison as a function of the ascertained first actual and future temperatures; actuating the bypass valve as a function of the ascertained comparison, opening the bypass valve.

  • Patent number: 11333121
Abstract: A method for operating a hybrid motor vehicle. In one example, the vehicle comprises an internal combustion engine (10) and at least one electric motor (20). As long as at least one parameter of an exhaust gas aftertreatment system (12) of the internal combustion engine (10) lies outside a given range, the starting of the internal combustion engine (10) is delayed and the internal combustion engine (10) is dragged by the electric motor (20). At the same time at least one measure is carried out which changes the parameter.

  • Patent number: 7587925
Abstract: A method for operating a sensor for recording particles in an exhaust gas flow and a device for carrying out the method are provided, in which at least one measure of the exhaust gas flow is ascertained and in which the measure of the exhaust gas flow is taken into consideration in the valuation of the particle sensor signal made available by the particle sensor. The procedure is based on the knowledge that the exhaust gas flow, for instance, the exhaust gas volume flow, has an influence on the particle sensor signal made available by the particle sensor, especially when the measuring effect is based on the depositing of particles on a sensor surface. Using the procedure, a possibly present cross sensitivity of the particle sensor with respect to different exhaust gas flows is taken into consideration, so that the measuring accuracy is increased.

  • Publication number: 20090188252
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for temporarily increasing the temperature in the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, comprising at least two associated turbochargers with a respective compressor in a fresh air feed to the internal combustion engine and a respective turbine in an exhaust gas line of the internal combustion engine, wherein a bypass is assigned to at least one compressor and/or one turbine, and comprising at least one exhaust gas retreatment system connected downstream of the turbines in the exhaust gas direction. In this case, the volumetric flow of fresh air and/or of exhaust gas directed past at least one compressor and/or one turbine through the bypasses is increased via regulating elements in the bypasses, which leads to a reduction in the charge pressure and hence to a reduction in the efficiency of the internal combustion engine and to an increase in the exhaust gas temperature.

  • Publication number: 20070204598
Abstract: The invention concerns a procedure to control a regeneration of a particle filter in an exhaust gas purification system of a combustion engine, at which combustion air inlet is supplied via a combustion velocity supply duct with a butterfly valve and at which exhaust is recycled in an exhaust duct via an exhaust gas recirculation and/or a low pressure-exhaust gas recirculation, by which exhaust can be supplied to the combustion velocity supply duct. If the gearings of the butterfly valve and the exhaust gas recirculation and/or the low pressure-exhaust gas recirculation are conducted in a pre-defined sequence, it can be reached, that the particle filter is protected from damages because of overheating and at the same time the ease and convenience when driving is not affected.
