  • Patent number: 6586706
Abstract: A machine tool for the machining of workpieces by means of a laser beam (13) includes a laser beam generator (12) that is located in an elevated position relative to a beam bender system (19) of a beam trombone (20). The beam bender system (19) of the trombone (20) can be moved under the laser beam generator (12). A beam guide (14) includes a beam-guiding element (15) that is positioned in the path of the laser beam (13) between the laser beam generator (12) and the beam bender system (19) of the trombone (20) and serves to redirect the laser beam (13) emitted by the laser beam generator (12) to the beam bender system (19) of the trombone (20). The beam bender system (19) of the trombone (20) and the laser cutting head (7) can be moved in the direction of a common axis of travel (x-axis) by means of drive units (8, 9, 21) with drive wheels.

  • Patent number: 6241229
Abstract: A machine tool for processing of plate-like workpieces (9) includes a machine frame with a work table (8), and a coordinate guide (10) by which the workpiece is movable above the work table (8). A guide rail (11) of the coordinate guide (10) is mounted on the machine frame to be movable in one coordinate direction (y) and movably carries at least one workpiece support (12) in the other coordinate direction (x) The guide rail (11) projects in the direction (x) beyond at least one side of the work table (8) to provide an overhang facing the work table (8) on which is provided a workpiece support. Between the overhang of the guide rail (11) and the machine frame is provided a self-supporting plate 16,17 reinforcing element which is movable with the guide rail (11) to support it on the machine frame against distortion and displacement and its surface provides workpiece support.

  • Patent number: 5778721
Abstract: Machine tools are known, for forming workpieces, such as sheet metal, with tooling made of two tool halves arranged on opposite sides of the workpiece to be formed. One half of the tooling has at least one pressure element that can move against the workpiece and act on it and the other half of the tooling has at least one counter-pressure element that works with the pressure element to form the workpiece, and it is also movable against the workpiece. The movement of the pressure element against the workpiece activates the drive of the counter-pressure element in the direction opposite to the movement of the pressure element against the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4951375
Abstract: A punching machine having a workpiece guidance system and a numeric control therefor, has one or more tool holders mounted upon the transverse rail of the guidance system, and a tool mounting assembly for receiving the punch and the die from the tool holder and securing them into position for punching of sheet metal and like workpieces. The workpiece guidance system effects the motion of the tool holder forwardly to bring the tools into the tool mounting positions, and the tools are then clamped in position. The guidance system is then moved rearwardly with the empty tool holder to a position where the punching operation can be conducted. Generally, the work table and the workpiece are moved forwardly with the workpiece guidance system during the tool changing operation, and a channel is provided in the lower portion of the frame and its worktable to permit movement of the tool holder and the die below the plane of the upper surface of the worktable.

  • Patent number: 4950861
Abstract: A combination punch press and laser cutting machine has a frame with a ram in its head mounted for reciprocation along a vertical axis, and a die support member in the base below the ram. The support member has a vertical passage therethrough and a horizontal passage extending thereinto. A frame and slag collection member is supported for movement from a position outwardly of the support member passage to a position inwardly thereof wherein it blocks the vertical passage. The collection member has a coolant distribution system for cooling it and flowing coolant over the surface of a slag collecting cavity therein, a waste removal conduit, and a fume removal conduit, all of which are operational during laser cutting action.
