    Abstract: A stabilized thermoplastic composition comprised of polyvinyl chloride or mixed polymers containing mainly vinyl chloride units together with stabilizers and other conventional additives employed in thermoplastic compositions, which have as major stabilizer component, a content of 0.02 to 5 parts by weight of aliphatic polyhydroxyl compounds containing 4 to 6 OH-groups per 100 parts by weight of polymer. These polyhydroxyl compounds should contain at least one carboxyl and/or carbonyl group and/or double bond. Suitable compounds are gluconic acid, glucuronic acid, ketogluconic acid, ascorbic acid or the alkali metal salts or alkaline earth salts of the mentioned acids.Other conventional processing additives may be present. The invention concerns also a process for the manufacture of pipes, profiles, foils, hollow parts by hot forming, with the use of the mentioned additives, and the additional use of paraffin, free fatty acid, epoxidized soybean oil or higher molecular weight ester wax.

    Abstract: This invention is directed to a process for stabilizing polyvinyl chloride molding mixtures which comprises admixing(a) from about 0.2 to 5 parts by weight of a sodium aluminosilicate of small particle size;(b) from about 0.05 to 1.5 parts by weight of one or more calcium salts of fatty acids;(c) from about 0.05 to 0.5 parts by weight of one or more zinc salts of fatty acids;(d) from about 0.2 to 2.0 parts by weight of partial esters of polyols and fatty acids; and(e) from about 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of thioglycolic acid esters of polyols and/or thioglycolic acid esters of monofunctional alcohols per 100 parts by weight of polyvinyl chloride or copolymer of vinyl chloride.

These sulfosuccinic acid derivatives are useful as emulsifying agents, particularly in the production of freeze-stable emulsion polymers.
