  • Patent number: 9466111
Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining an angular position of individual wires at a predetermined cross-sectional position in a multi-wire sheathed cable, which has, inside a sheath, a plurality of individual wires twisted around one another with a predetermined lay length. The angular position of the individual wires is determined relative to a reference direction, which extends through the central longitudinal axis of the sheathed cable. The method includes: determining an end angle position of the ends of the individual wires relative to the reference direction at an end of the sheathed cable, determining the distance between the end of the sheathed cable and the predetermined cross-sectional position in the longitudinal direction of the sheathed cable, and determining the angular position of the individual wires relative to the reference direction at the predetermined cross-sectional position based upon the end angle position, the lay length, the twist direction, and the distance.

  • Patent number: 5969243
Abstract: The invention relates to a humidity sensor for capacitive measurement of the humidity contained in a material, predominantly a bulk product. For parallel operation of several humidity sensors, one individual humidity sensor has to fulfil particularly high requirements with regard to accuracy, sensitivity and interchangeability. These requirements are fulfilled by the humidity sensor as per the invention firstly in that at least one pole of a stray field condenser arranged in the humidity sensor is fitted as a conductive layer on the side of a closer plate in the casing of the humidity sensor which is turned away from the material or bulk product. Furthermore, there is arranged in the casing a digital arithmetic-logic unit which exhibits a calibration table stored in a digital memory for determination of humidity levels as a function of measurement signals in a capacity measurement circuit which measures the capacity of the stray field condenser and of interference values affecting the humidity sensor.

  • Patent number: 4880885
Abstract: In a process of polymerizing ethylenically unsaturated compounds by polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers in the presence of a free radical-forming initiator system and customary protective colloids and/or emulsifiers and optional known additives in a reactor whose surfaces contact the reaction components, the improvement comprising providing the reactor surfaces with a coating that at least suppresses polymer deposit formation without effecting the color and quality of the polymer.

  • Patent number: 4742740
Abstract: A controlled lathe having a rotatable main spindle with a hollow interior and a plurality of radially adjustable guide bodies for guiding a rod having a portion located within the hollow interior of the main spindle. Each guide body rests on a support body and is adjustable with respect to the support body by an axially movable inner tube located within the hollow interior of the main spindle. Axial movement of the inner tube to adjust the guide bodies is effected by an adjusting member which is mounted on the end of the inner tube and which is rotatable with the main spindle during normal lathe operation. The adjusting member is threadedly connected to a member which is attached to the main spindle, and a holding device secures the adjusting member against rotation when the guide bodies are to be adjusted which causes axial movement of the adjusting member and the inner tube due to the threaded connection.

  • Patent number: 4348496
Abstract: A pastable emulsion polymer comprised of carboxylated monomer/vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate terpolymer having improved strength of adhesion produced by emulsion copolymerization and containing, per polymer weight, from 60% to 98% by weight of vinyl chloride monomer units, from 1% to 29% by weight of vinyl acetate monomer units, andfrom 1% to 15% by weight of carboxyl-containing monomerunits selected from the group consisting of olefinically-unsaturated monocarboxylic acids, monoallyl esters of non-ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids, and monovinyl esters of non-ethylenically-unsaturated dicarboxylic acids. The terpolymers are manufactured by the copolymerization of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, olefinically-unsaturated monocarboxylic acids and/or monoallyl esters and/or monovinyl esters of non-ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids in an aqueous emulsion. The pastable terpolymers, after empasting are used for coating flexible sheet-like articles.
