  • Patent number: 4452433
Abstract: A carrying tower for a metallurgical vessel includes at least one carrying arm cantilevering from a non-rotatable carrying column and pivotable about the carrying column, which carrying arm carries at least one metallurgical vessel. A pivot bearing is provided between the carrying arm and the carrying column. In order to enable a simple check, maintenance and a quick removal of the pivot bearing with the carrying arm remaining on the carrying tower, a single pivot bearing accommodating axial and radial forces as well as tilting moments, with a lower-side shoulder of a first bearing race, rests on a supporting surface arranged on the upper end of the carrying column. The carrying arm is mounted so as to be suspended on a second bearing race of the pivot bearing.

  • Patent number: 4279412
Abstract: An apparatus for destacking a stack of flexible flat structures, especially paper sheets or printed products, comprising a suction head which can be moved, by means of a drive device, along a closed path of travel. This suction head is periodically connected, by means of a valve arrangement, with a source of negative pressure, and thereafter is again disconnected from such source. This valve arrangement comprises a cylindrical valve body attached to a drive shaft of the drive device for the suction head. This valve body rotates in a valve housing having three housing connections which, viewed in the direction of rotation of the valve body, are arranged behind one another. The forwardmost housing connection, viewed in such rotational direction, is connected with the negative pressure source, whereas the intermediate housing connection is connected with the suction head. The last housing connection serves for venting and is connected with the surroundings.

  • Patent number: 4265437
Abstract: A method and apparatus for folding multi-sheet paper products, especially for forming a further longitudinal fold at newspapers having a transverse break. During the formation of the fold or shortly before there is produced a bend in the sheets to be folded, whose curvature is opposite to the curvature of the fold to be formed. In this way there are avoided ray-like extending crease folds in the innermost sheets of the folded product. The apparatus for performing the method contemplates providing a folding element having at least one pair of folding edges which extend in the same direction at their effective region and are laterally spaced from one another, so that there is left free an intermediate space into which there can be displaced the innermost sheets of the product to be folded during the folding operation. The folding edges can be formed at the circumference of rotating, preferably coaxial folding disks, which coact with a smooth or profiled counter disk.
