  • Patent number: 4479598
Abstract: The tractor comprises a frame, a drive roller carried by the frame, a pressure roller and a carrier therefor. The pressure roller is biased against the drive roller. The pressure roller can be moved to be spaced slightly from the drive roller to enable paper adjustment or it can be moved to a storage position. The friction feed tractor has a paper edge guide which is automatically moved to a storage position when not in use. In their storage positions the friction feed tractor and paper edge guide act as paper supports for pin feed tractor operation.

  • Patent number: 4341480
Abstract: A cut form paper transport apparatus in a belt printer includes driven exit friction rollers disposed for rolling engagement with a pressure roller pivotally supported on a pair of support arms which carry a deflector or guide plate spaced above the platen and disposed for engagement with the leading edge of a sheet of paper as it leaves the printing region for deflection of the leading edge into an exit path tangent to the platen and such that the leading edge of the sheet moves between the exit friction rollers and the pressure roller for engagement thereby when the sheet is in the exit path. Mounted on the deflector plate is a pair of adjustment rollers disposed for rolling engagement with the outer surface of the platen for adjusting the position of the deflector plate with respect to the platen.

  • Patent number: 4178106
Abstract: The gap between the print head and the printing surface or platen in a printer is extremely critical in certain types of printers. Where printers are required to accept print media of various thickness (single or multipart paper), an adjust mechanism is required to optimize the print gap. A problem arises thereafter whenever ribbon has to be changed or new paper fed into the printer, since the print head must be retracted from its optimum gap position for ease of operation. The present invention provides for automatically resetting the print head to its predetermined previous gap spacing following movement of the print head away from the printing surface for servicing such as paper loading on ribbon replacement. This is accomplished by providing a lever, adapted to move the print head away from the printing surface, with a cam face for mating with a cam follower carried by a gap adjustment arm pivoted for movement in fixed distance increments about a pivot point.
