  • Publication number: 20260042043
Abstract: A filter medium is provided that comprises a nonwoven layer. The nonwoven layer comprises a sizing agent and a hydrophobic, stiffening binder resin. The nonwoven layer may be corrugated. A method producing a filter medium is also provided. The filter medium may be a fuel filter, oil filter, air filter, or an electric discharge filter. The filter medium, after corrugation, pleating, or embossing, avoids or minimizes water ingress, while still allowing the filter medium to maintain its structural and filtration properties.

  • Publication number: 20250312716
Abstract: Filter media, filters and methods for making the same are provided herein. A filter media comprises a fibrous layer having a first portion and a second portion, the first portion and second portions being disposed next to each other along a thickness direction of the layer. The fibers from the first portion are intermeshed with the fibers from the second portion. A weight ratio of the fibers in the first portion to the fibers in the second portion is greater than 1:1. In certain embodiments, the fibrous layer comprise synthetic fibers, and two different types of cellulosic fiber. The synthetic fibers constitute less than 20 wt % of the fibers in the fibrous layer, and the second portion comprises more synthetic fibers, in terms of mass per unit area, than the first portion.

  • Publication number: 20250303328
Abstract: A filter medium, filtration device, and methods for the same are described. The filter medium may include a base impregnated with a cured epoxy resin. The cured epoxy resin may be the reaction product of, or formed by, the reaction of an epoxy resin and a curing agent. The epoxy resin may include a diglycidyl ether. The diglycidyl ether may be the reaction product of or formed by the reaction of a diol and an epihalohydrin. The epihalohydrin may be derived from one or more renewable sources. The method may include impregnating a base filter medium with an impregnation composition including one or more of an epoxy resin, a curing agent, a solvent, or a combination thereof. The method may also include reacting the epoxy resin with the curing agent to form a cured epoxy resin.

  • Patent number: 11198079
Abstract: The invention relates to a filter material comprising a carrier material that is impregnated on one side with a thermally pre-crosslinked binder system (VB) and on the other side with a thermally crosslinkable but un-crosslinked binder system (UB). The filter material is characterised by improved deformability and a very good level of heat sealability, particularly using ultrasound, and a low pressure differential particularly when filtering high-viscosity liquids.

  • Publication number: 20170050294
Abstract: The invention relates to an abrasive support comprising a support material composed of at least one wet- or dry-laid nonwoven based on natural and/or synthetic fibers. The support material is impregnated with a thermally curable polymer solution on one side and with an aqueous polymer dispersion on the opposite side. The thermally curable polymer solution penetrates at least 50% and at most 80% of the thickness of the support material, while the aqueous polymer dispersion penetrates at least 25% and at most 50% of the thickness of the support material.

  • Publication number: 20160250574
Abstract: A filter material for isolating liquids from fluid streams comprises a wetlaid or drylaid non-woven or woven, or an open-cell foam. The two sides of the filter material are impregnated with two different binders in such a way that one side of the filter material has a higher surface energy and thus a shorter drop absorption time than the opposing side.

  • Publication number: 20110290713
Abstract: The invention relates to a single or multi-layer filter material, comprising at least one layer made of cellulose, glass fiber, synthetic fiber, or a mixture thereof, and saturated with a binding agent made of an epoxy resin and a curing agent. The hardening agent comprises a first hardener cross-linking at a lower temperature, and a second hardener cross-linking at a higher temperature, so that the epoxy resin can be hardened stepwise depending on the temperature.
