    Abstract: An assembly of a support plate and an exit window foil for use in an electron beam generating device. The support plate is designed to reduce wrinkles in the foil. The foil is bonded to the support plate along a closed bonding line bounding an area in which the support plate is provided with a pattern of apertures and foil support portions alternately. When vacuum is created in the housing the pattern is adapted to form a topographical profile of the foil substantially absorbing any surplus foil. Another aspect involves a method in a filling machine for sterilizing a packaging material web.

Since the two measurement methods react differently to interference effects, the comparison of the two output signals permits conclusions to be drawn as to the type and the order of magnitude of the interference effects and a corrected measurement signal can be obtained, which is independent of the interference effects.

    Abstract: The invention proposes a device for measuring the mass of a flowing medium, in particular the mass of air aspirated by internal combustion engines. The device has a platelike sensor element which is accommodated in a recess of a sensor carrier, and which with a sensor region that has at least one measuring resistor is exposed to the flowing medium in order to measure its mass. The sensor element is accommodated essentially flush in the recess and is retained in the recess by being glued to a bottom face in the recess. The bottom face of the recess of the sensor carrier has a troughlike indentation, which extends at least partially along the circumference of the sensor element outside the sensor region that has the at least one measuring resistor. The device according to the invention is intended to measure the mass of a flowing medium, in particular for measuring the mass of air aspirated by internal combustion engines.

    Abstract: A device for crimping a plastically deforming metal pole shoe (1) around the end (2) of a cable that has been inserted into it. The device comprises an anvil (3), a die (4), a sensor (5), and a comparator (6). The shoe is placed on the anvil and the die is advanced toward it, deforming the shoe. The sensor emits a signal once the shoe has been deformed to the maximum, and the comparator compares the signal with a reference and emits either an "accept" signal or a "reject" signal. The "reject" signal emitted by the comparator actuates a cable-end trimmer that cuts part-way or all the way through the cable. Consequently, the device will always either acceptably crimp pole shoes to the ends of cables or reliably indicate defective connections.
