  • Publication number: 20080299060
Abstract: A method for topically and systemically delivering a pharmaceutical composition to a human nail is disclosed, said method comprising the application of a pharmaceutical composition to the nail, covering the nail and the pharmaceutical composition with a protective layer, and a dissolvent to remove the protective layer and the pharmaceutical composition after a certain time of action and before reapplication. Preferably the method is combined with a laser pretreatment of the nail to drill arrays of partial orifices to enhance the permeability of drugs through the nail plate.

  • Publication number: 20070144540
Abstract: A method for delivering a pharmaceutical composition to a human or animal nail, said method comprising forming several partial orifices in a nail with an appropriate device and applying a pharmaceutical composition in the orifices. Preferably the device comprises a laser programmed in a way to drill arrays of partial orifices where each partial orifices can be drilled with a single laser shot or, optionally with several laser shots. Preferably the partial orifices have similar depths across the nail. The method of the invention allows for the continuous treatment of diseases over a period of time with a minimum of patient discomfort combined with a high degree of efficacy.

  • Patent number: 4580399
Abstract: Wire which has been wound upon a spool or into a coil using a flyer which imparts a twist to the wound wire is unwound from the spool or coil by being withdrawn over an end of the spool or coil in a direction which neutralizes a twist and results in the unwound wire being twist-free.

  • Patent number: 4553707
Abstract: Wire is wound in conical layers upon a conical core of a reel or other structure upon which wire can be wound until a predetermined outer diameter of a wound reel is reached. The wire is then wound in layers of decreasing lengths to form a wound reel which has an outer cylindrical shape of the same diameter. A reel can be used from which the core can be removed after winding so that upon unwinding, the wire can be pulled from the interior of the wound reel.

  • Patent number: 4407116
Abstract: An apparatus for stranding wire, cables, ropes or the like, has one or more rotatable supports and a plurality of receptacles are non-rotatably mounted on each of the supports. A bundle of wound wire which is to be stranded is contained in each one of the receptacles which are positioned so that the axis of each bundle of wire is substantially parallel to the axis of rotation of the support. The wires from each of the bundles in a receptacle are then guided to a stranding point.

  • Patent number: 4398677
Abstract: The present winding apparatus for strand type materials such as wire, rope, strings or the like, facilitates the exchange of the reel or drum in the winding machine including a flyer so that a continuous operation, for example of a wire drawing machine, does no need to be interrupted. This continuous wire take-up is accomplished by a wire storing magazine and a so-called dancer arranged between the wire drawing machine and the winding apparatus. The magazine has a variable capacity for storing a quantity of the elongated material during the time when the reel or drum in the winding machine is exchanged. The so-called dancer is arranged between the variable capacity magazine and the winding machine for controlling the winding speed of the flyer. The magazine may comprise a plurality of block and tackle rollers arranged in sets one of which is movable to vary the storage capacity. The dancer also has a movable pulley for controlling the speed of the drive motor of the flyer.

  • Patent number: 4164331
Abstract: A device for guiding and/or changing the direction of movement of a wire and the like moving at a high speed in a rotating structure into which the wire is introduced at the axis of rotation of the rotating structure comprises a slide guide spaced from the axis of rotation of the rotating structure. The slide guide is provided with a contact path upon which the wire moves and air under pressure or a lubricant may be introduced to the path to reduce the friction between the path and the moving wire.

  • Patent number: 4050641
Abstract: In an apparatus for winding wire a spool upon which the wire is to be wound is held securely within the apparatus and a flyer having guide rollers to guide the wire upon the spool is mounted for rotary movement around the spool and for axial movement in a direction parallel to the axis of the spool. The rotary speed of the flyer can be regulated to maintain the tension of the wire constant. Limit switches are provided to define the limits of axial movement of the flyer and to reverse the direction of movement of the flyer so that the wire is wound upon the spool in uniform layers.

  • Patent number: 4050640
Abstract: The spool upon which the wire is to be wound is mounted upon a carriage which is movable into and out of the apparatus. A flyer having guide rollers thereon to guide the wire upon the spool is mounted for rotary movement around the spool and for reciprocating movement in a direction parallel to the axis of the spool. The spool is rotated in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the flyer during winding. At least one guide roll is provided with adjustable pitch fan blades to provide additional rotary drive of the roller.
