  • Patent number: 9079388
Abstract: A method and an apparatus control a printing press having a plurality of printing units, a plurality of cylinders which are coupled mechanically to one another and a control computer for controlling at least one drive motor which drives the mechanically coupled cylinders. A torsion model is stored in the machine computer for describing the torsion state of the cylinders in the printing press which are rotatably coupled mechanically to one another, as a function of at least one measurable operating parameter or at least one variable of the printing press which is known to the machine computer. A control of the printing press is performed by the control computer on the basis of the values which are calculated by the torsion model.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 16, 2007
Date of Patent: July 14, 2015
    Assignee: Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG
Inventors: Stefan Schreiber, Bernhard Buck, Werner Joss, Malte Seidler

  • Patent number: 5520113
Abstract: Method of regulating an amount of dampening medium on a printing plate of an offset printing machine, includes determining the amount of dampening medium on the printing plate, adjusting the rotational speed of a dampening ductor and/or the like to a given set value so as to regulate the amount of dampening medium on the printing plate and, for regulation deviations wherein the set value is greater than an actual value, driving a controller with a greater amplification factor than for regulation deviations wherein the set value is smaller than the actual value.

  • Patent number: 5108186
Abstract: A method of establishing a measuring location lying in an ink-free area for determining the thickness of a layer of dampening medium on the surface of an offset printing plate, which includes scanning the surface of the plate in a search run with a measuring head, and evaluating the thus obtained measurement data in a manner that a measuring location lies in a vertical zone of the offset printing plate with the smallest possible average area coverage, and a device for performing the method.

  • Patent number: 4854236
Abstract: Transmission system for forming cyclical motion from rotational motion including a device having a rotating part and at least one control lever set into cyclical motion by rotational motion of the rotating part, the one control lever and the rotating part being in cooperative engagement whereby a varying force is applied to the control lever producing a torque fluctuation in the rotational motion, includes another device for producing cyclical motion, the other device being in operative engagement with the rotating part, and spring means for applying a force to the rotating part so as to compensate for the torque fluctuation.
