  • Publication number: 20230269242
Abstract: The present embodiments relate to providing near real-time communications from a public network to a private network. A first computing device in a public network can obtain data packets to be provided to the private network from an application executing on the first computing device. A trust module executed by the first computing device can authenticate the user, application, and the data packets to be provided to the private network and add metadata relating to the sending user, recipient user, etc. The data packets can be forwarded to the private network via a cross-domain system (CDS). The metadata and the digital signature on the data packets can be verified by a trust module executing on a second computing device in the private network. The second computing device can receive the data packets and store the data packets for subsequent actions to be performed in the private network.

  • Patent number: 11641621
Abstract: A system in which a device may automatically provision another device with credentials, at the behest of a cloud-based service, based in part on the physical proximity of the device to be provisioned. The provisioning device and the device to be provisioned may use a radio access technology (RAT) with a limited radio range. Account information associated with the device to be provisioned is known to the cloud-based service, which authenticates the device to be provisioned via the device with credentials.

  • Patent number: 10638522
Abstract: Various technologies described herein pertain to configuring an access point in a local network for operation in a community Wi-Fi network. The community Wi-Fi network includes access points in differing local networks that share respective network bandwidth capacities with member computing devices of the community Wi-Fi network. A request to join the access point to the community Wi-Fi network is transmitted from the access point to a community aggregation system. Responsive to the request, the community aggregation system transmits a firmware update to the access point. The access point installs the firmware update in memory of the access point. Moreover, responsive to installation of the firmware update, the access point can share network bandwidth capacity with the member computing devices of the community Wi-Fi network. Further, the community aggregation system supports transparent handoffs between access points in to the community Wi-Fi network.

  • Patent number: 10182024
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for dividing and merging online content sharing environments such as, for example, online chat rooms. An online content sharing environment may have a group of user profiles associated therewith, some subgroup of which may be exchanging message content within the online content sharing environment at any given time. If an amount of message data traffic being exchanged and/or a number of user profiles exchanging messages exceeds a corresponding threshold value, the online content sharing environment may be divided into two or more sub-environments. Respective sub-groups of user profiles may then be identified based on association criteria and associated with the various sub-environments.

  • Patent number: 10129761
Abstract: Various technologies described herein pertain to managing and accessing a community Wi-Fi network. The community Wi-Fi network can include sharer computing devices in differing local networks that share respective network bandwidth capacities with consumer computing devices. Feedback information pertaining to network bandwidth capacity available at different geographic locations covered by the community Wi-Fi network can be collected and evaluated to enable generation of maps for visualizing coverage of the community Wi-Fi network. A consumer computing device can display a map that includes visual information pertaining to the geographic coverage of the community Wi-Fi network relative to a geographic location of the consumer computing device.

  • Patent number: 9730073
Abstract: Devices, methods, and systems for provisioning network credentials onto a device using audible commands. In some instances, the device is a headless device without a graphical user interface. The device may include a limited number of speech models and phrases pre-programmed onto the device to enable the device to query a user to enter network credentials and have a dialog type interface with the user using local speech recognition techniques. Once the network credentials are entered and the device connects to the user's network, the device may change modes and limit the local speech recognition techniques. In this respect, the device may send audio input to a more powerful remote device for processing.

  • Patent number: 9537889
Abstract: Embodiments control submission of crowdsourced data from a computing device to a cloud service. The cloud service receives a packet from the computing device having collected data and a single-use data tag associated therewith. The single-use data tag represents one of a threshold quantity of single-use data tags issued to the computing device. The cloud service validates the single-use data tag in the received packet by, for example, searching for the single-use data tag in a tag store maintained by the cloud service. The collected data from the received packet is stored by the cloud service based on the validation. After validation, the tag store is updated to prevent re-use of the single-use data tag. In some embodiments, the cloud service is a location service receiving crowdsourced beacon fingerprint data from a plurality of mobile computing devices.

  • Patent number: 8446320
Abstract: A method and apparatus determines if a location fix received by a mobile station using a non-GPS location techniques is accurate. Location results obtained using the non-GPS location technique or techniques are treated as accurate if they are verified as being within an error margin obtained from a trusted source of location information such as a GPS positioning system. Non-GPS Location information may be obtained from a signal transmitted by the base station, which signal includes the base station location. The non-GPS location information may also be obtained from a backend service associated with the wireless network that includes the base station.

  • Patent number: 8155271
Abstract: The present embodiments related to a device having a device element to which a high voltage can be applied. The device is provided with at least one additional conducting element which is disposed, embodied and connected in such a way that the element is assigned a defined potential value and a change to the electric field generated by the high voltage in the sense of a more favorable field distribution is effected by means of position, shape and potential value. According to the invention, maximum loads on switching elements are avoided and undesirable phenomena such as voltage breakdowns or flow voltages are counteracted as a result of the more favorable field distribution.
