  • Patent number: 5850974
Abstract: A control device for an adjustable fluid jet having a piston arrangement with a through bore communicating with at least one through recess of an elastic element. A thrust bolt enters a jet tube arranged in a fixed manner at the jet head. A following control piston limits a pressure chamber supplied with the pressure medium on the other side of the thrust bolt. A sealing plug projects from the opposite end of the thrust bolt and exhibits a smaller diameter and enters in a sealing manner into an opening that departs from the pressure chamber and is supplied with the fluid to be processed.

  • Patent number: 5813332
Abstract: In a remoistening device for remoistening a freshly printed and dried web of printed material has a housing through which the web of printed material runs. The remoistening device is a disposed downstream from a dryer, preferably in the area between the dryer and a cooling device. The remoistening device is provided with an inlet and outlet slot, in which spray nozzles, which are arranged above and underneath the conveyance plane of the web of printed material and which can be supplied with a moistening agent, are provided. It is possible to achieve a high degree of freedom from trouble and soiling is achieved in that drip catchers are arranged at the lower edges of the walls of the upper housing area of the remoistening device which cross an conveyance plane of the web of printed material.

  • Patent number: 5799879
Abstract: In a device to produce a fluid jet (14), especially to apply glue (12) and/or a soft fluid (13) onto a web with a nozzle head (5) which bears a nozzle (6) provided with a discharge port (34) arranged at one end of a conduit (33) loaded with the fluid (12, 13), control of the fluid jet cross-section is achieved in a simple and low-cost, in that an elastic element (18) is provided for in the area of the discharge port (34), which features a through opening (17) communicating with the conduit (33) and which (18) is mounted between two compression elements (19, 20) which can shift in relation to each other.

  • Patent number: 5239903
Abstract: In an apparatus for severing and holding a torn web for a web processing machine and more particularly for a web feed rotary printing press, comprising a knife beam having a stationary knife and arranged across the conveying plane of the web, and furthermore a strike beam having a hump adapted to come into functional engagement with the knife and which by means of an associated push-out means is able to be lifted and lowered, said means being adapted to be activated by a web tear detector, it is possible to have a design with simple and low-cost means so that the device is not only of universal application but furthermore ensures a high degree of operator safety, if the knife beam comprises two identical, bar-like knife carriers holding the knife between them, which adjacent to their side facing the strike beam are provided with symmetrically arranged holders for elastic bars flanking the knife, which bars project in relation to the cutting edge of the knife and are spaced apart by a distance at least equal t

  • Patent number: 5163371
Abstract: In order to catch a broken printed web, which is gripped downstream from a printing unit, and more particularly downstream from the last printing unit of a roll feed rotary printing press, between a driven roll and at least one yoke which is able to be pivoted against the roll in response to the signal of a switch sensing breaking of the web, to ensure a high degree of operational reliability, the roll is initially run at a higher speed than the web and then the effective speed of the roll is made equal to the web speed by the use of a drive device with at least one yielding means therein, the torque transmitted to the yielding means being reduced to a value lower than the web break value at the earliest when the yoke comes into engagement with the roll.

  • Patent number: 5130557
Abstract: In a web break detecting device for web processing machines, more particularly web fed rotary printing presses, comprising at least one sensing means adapted for cooperation with the web and preferable in the form of a single path photoelectric detector whose beam is normally interrupted by the web and which is adapted to produce a signal if the position of the web should be displaced, in order to achieve a particularly high degree of reliability and very short response times, each sensing means, which is arranged adjacent to a longitudinal edge of the web, is provided with a deflecting means, by means of which a deflecting thrust may be produced permanently acting adjacent to the part of the associated longitudinal edge of the web, and which during normal operation is overridden by the web tension, such thrust causing the longitudinal edge of the web to moved out of the plane of the web during trouble-free operation, when the web tension fails, in relation to the sensing means.
