  • Patent number: 5428182
Abstract: Bile acid derivatives of the formula IZ(X--GS)nin which GS, X, Z and n have the meanings indicated in the specification, and a process for the preparation of these compounds are described. The compounds are pharmacologically active and can, therefore, be used as pharmaceuticals, in particular as a hypolipidemic.

  • Patent number: 5250524
Abstract: The invention relates to bile acid derivatives of the formula IG1--X--G2 (I)in whichG1 and G2 are bile acid radicals or modified bile acid radicals in the form of the free acids, the esters or amides, the salt forms and also the forms derivatized on the alcohol groups andX is a bridge group or a single covalent bond, it being possible for G1 and G2 to be optionally bonded via X.The compounds according to the invention have a high affinity for the specific bile acid transport system of the small intestine and inhibit bile acid absorption in a concentration-dependent and competitive manner.

  • Patent number: 5210593
Abstract: A gauge for measuring the thickness of an unsupported web. One triangulation sensor is located above and the other is located below the web. Each triangulation sensor includes a laser whose beam is bounced off the web to a position sensitive detector in the sensor, which determines the distance of the surface of the web from the sensor. The sensors travel in synchronization along tracks, across the direction of web travel. To detect and compensate in the measurements for any sag or deflection in the track, there is a further laser either on one of the sensors or on the frame of the gauge and a respective further detector on the other one of the sensors and/or the frame of the gauge. The further detector detects the shifting of the sensor toward or away from the web and generates a signal which is combined with the triangulation signals from the sensors to calculate the thickness of the web.

  • Patent number: 4343897
Abstract: A reconstitutable dry reagent for the turbidimetric determination of lipase, which reagent forms an emulsion upon adding water and comprises substrate oil, protective colloid, emulsifier and activator; and the process for making said dry reagent comprising preparing an aqueous emulsion of a triglyceride containing bile acid salt, colipase, at least 10% by weight of protective colloid, and at least a part of a preserving agent, lyophilizing the emulsion, mixing the lyophilizate with a buffer substance and urea, and recovering said dry reagent.
