  • Publication number: 20040032045
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a cable including the following steps: Manufacturing of a cable with an electrical conductor which comprises at least one part consisting of a cross-linkable polymer; coiling of said cable to form a bunch; treating of said bunch under process conditions, which cause a cross linking of the cross-linkable polymer. The invention further relates to an apparatus for manufacturing a cable, which comprises at least one element formed by a cross-linkable polymer, including: A polymer applying device by which said polymer component is put on, put into or led in any other manner to the cable; a coiling device by which said cable, that was supplied with a cross-linkable polymer, is coiled to form a bunch; a bunch treatment device in which said bunch is treated under predetermined process conditions which at least partially cause the cross-linking of said cross-linkable polymer component.

  • Patent number: 5593108
Abstract: A winding bobbin for receiving elongated winding material, in particular metal-containing winding material, comprises a winding core having two flanges arranged thereon and which is preferably made of plastic. At least one flange is removable whereby locking elements are provided for locking the flange on a winding core, ensuring a stable connection between the flange and the winding core in the axial direction. Preferably, a locking element is provided to prevent the removable flange from being unintentionally loosened from the winding core.

  • Patent number: 4971264
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the continuous changing of reels on continuously operating stationary winding stations for strand-like materials are disclosed. A reel changing apparatus having at least two reel receiving stations is provided. A full reel being wound on a winding station is removed from the winding station by a first reel receiving station of the reel changing apparatus which continues to rotate the removed reel at operating speed after reel removal. Strand-like material continues to be wound on the removed reel. A second reel receiving station of the reel changing apparatus which is rotating an empty reel at operating speed places the empty reel on the winding station from which the full reel had been removed. The empty reel rotates on the winding station at operating speed. The strand-like material is then cut and transferred to the empty reel rotating on the winding station. Reel change has been accomplished without interrupting the winding of the strand-like material.

  • Patent number: 4628676
Abstract: A double-lay stranding machine for laying a predetermined amount of wire or stranded material on a reel comprises a lifting table for transfering empty reels to a reel carrier and for removing the full reels therefrom, the lifting table being provided with a pair of rollers for enabling the unwinding of a predetermined length of wire or strand from a wound reel during the removal process. The portion of the strand extending between a removed reel and a laying roller is automatically cut and held by a gripping and severing device. Upon the loading of an empty reel into the carrier, the leading free end portion of the wire or strand is automatically clamped to the outside surface of a reel flange and brought over the rim of the flange prior to a winding operation.

  • Patent number: 4292114
Abstract: Method and apparatus for winding wire on a double flanged spool by means of a single spooler wherein the wire is automatically carried from a feed roller toward the spindle by grasping the free end of an endless wire, guiding the grasped end in an orbital path about a spindle, until a portion remote from the wire is grasped by another means adjacent to the spindle and wire is then caused to be cast from the other grasping means over the end flange of the spool and onto the spool itself. Thereafter the wire is wound about the spool after which, the wire is automatically grasped and cut from the spool by the orbital means so as to restart a new cycle of winding.
