Abstract: In a process and an apparatus for the avoidance of bird impacts on airplanes by means of at least one light-flashes generating light source on an airplane, for which the frequency of the generated light flashes is varied through at least one cycle, the flash frequency is varied dependent upon the speed and/or the altitude and/or the acceleration of the airplane in order to provide an optimal flash frequency range for all take-off and landing phases and at the same time to be independent of a load and the type of airplane.

Abstract: In flashing light warning apparatus of a type having a voltage source (U), a main blocking transformer (HW), a flash tube (R), an ignition device (Z), a first and a third storage condenser (K1, K3), and an electrical switching device (S1), a switching path of the first electrical switching apparatus is arranged parallel to the first storage condenser, the third storage condenser and the ignition device are coupled to an auxiliary blocking transformer (ZW), and the first switching device can be switched by a control device (B). Such a flashing light warning apparatus can be produced in an uncomplicated, cost effective manner, to provide light energy which can be changed during operation to provide a day flash and at least one type of night flash. The night flash is at such a level that its output can be recognized from afar only by night vision apparatus.

Abstract: A flashing warning light assembly of a type including a voltage source (s), a transformer gate (W), first and second storage condensers (C1 and C2), flash tube (B), an ignition circuit (T, Z), and an electrical switch (T1) in series with the first storage condenser which is controllable electrically. A monitoring circuit (R1, R2, V1) is further included which senses the charge voltage of the first storage condenser and compares it with a reference voltage, opening the electrical switch when the charge voltage exceeds the reference voltage. The apparatus of this invention provides a flashing warning light assembly which is easily and cost-effectively producible and which, while reliably igniting the flash tube, makes possible the influencing of energy or light intensity of produced light flashes.
