  • Patent number: 7001774
Abstract: A volume-adjusting insert for sample vessels comprises an elongated body with a septum seal on one end and a seal surface on the outside of the body. A through-chamber in the body provides a receiving chamber for a hypodermic needle inserted into the septum. The seal surface of the insert defines a reduced-volume sample chamber comprising the through-chamber and the vessel chamber portion of the sample vessel below the insert, or alternatively, below the seal surface. Sample fluid injected into, or withdrawn from, the insert communicates with the through-chamber and the lower vessel chamber. The device is particularly useful in converting multi-well microplates to low sample-volume vessels for automated sampling and testing, and allows the hydraulic pressure generated by a hypodermic needle to transport the sample fluid through the sample vessel and out of a bottom-extraction element.

  • Patent number: 6881021
Abstract: A telescopic boom (1) for a vehicle (25) or a hoist with a storage rack (6) for at least two box girders (2, 3) guided displaceably in one another in the direction of their longitudinal axes, which are mounted to pivot about a horizontal pivot axle (5) in the storage rack (6) and which can be displaced reciprocally by means of a servo-drive (19) is described. In order to create advantageous structural conditions it is proposed that the longitudinal axles of the box girders (2, 3) form an upwards arched arc of a circle (4) which runs concentrically to a common axis parallel to the pivot axis (5).

  • Patent number: 6526812
Abstract: Self-washing injection apparatus [101] for liquid chromatography injection valves utilizes an interior chamber [105] with a penetrable seal [109] at the top end of the chamber and a needle sleeve seal [113] at the bottom end of the interior chamber. A wash port [145] in the body [103] of the apparatus connects one or more sources of wash fluid to the interior chamber between the penetrable seal and the sleeve seal. The apparatus provides a simple and effective means to aspirate or pump wash fluids from one or more wash fluid reservoirs through the apparatus, the injection port of the injection valve, and associated components.

  • Patent number: 6206627
Abstract: A loading device for containers (C) comprises a pair of loading units (2), each having a telescopic column (4) supported on a bracket (3) so as to be swivelled about a common swivel axis (I). The telescopic column consists of a lower portion (9), an upper portion (11) and a column cylinder (17) moving the upper portion (11) with respect to the lower portion (9). Actuating cylinders (5) are connected to the lower portion (9) on both sides, and the upper portion (11) accommodates an extension arm (14) which can be swivelled about a swivel axis (III) parallel to the swivel axis (I) of the telescopic column. To expand the loading possibilities, the upper portion (11) carries a column head (12) which forms a slot-shaped swivel guide (18) with cam tracks (19) limiting the swivelling of the extension arm (14).
