    Abstract: The invention relates to a sieving device for mechanically separating and extracting solid bodies or solid matter from a liquid current, in particular, to sieve gratings for process or effluent currents or for use in sewage treatment plants or hydroelectric power stations. Said device comprises a number of sieving panels (2, 2′, 2″) which are substantially arranged in a transverse direction to the direction of flow of the liquid current, are linked together, and which form a revolving endless sieve belt (1) immersing into the liquid current (20). The device also comprises a drive for the endless sieve belt (1), whereby the sieving panels (2, 2′, 2″) are arranged successively in such a way that the revolving motion of the endless sieve belt (1) is comprised within one single plane which lies substantially perpendicular to the direction of flow of the liquid current (20).

A driving motor is used whose characteristic of torque versus rotation runs relatively flat and whose number of rotations in the downward movement area is in the ratio of at least 1.5:1 compared to the number of rotations in the upward movement area.

    Abstract: A security bar rack for installation in the inlets or outlets of water-treatment plants or power stations comprises a number of hollow tubes. A conductive indicator element with uninsulated external surfaces is stretched within each tube and extends over its entire length. Each indicator element is provided with a separate monitoring circuit which actuates a signal element in a way that a detectable alarm signal is emitted if any change takes place in the dielectric condition of the indicator element/tube assembly. In addition a second signal element is provided which is controlled by the monitoring circuit so as to produce a detectable signal to indicate that the device is in a state of readiness to produce an alarm signal.

A stationary wall member is provided, at least in the region of upward conveyance of the liquid, and a receiving vessel is positioned in the discharge region of the conveying wheel.
