Patent number: 6065895Abstract: A carrying apparatus for supporting a ski binding toe piece and heel piece on a ski, the carrying apparatus having a length-adjustable coupling member arranged between a front support member and a rear support member. The carrying apparatus is easily mountable to the ski and is adaptable to accommodate numerous ski boot sizes.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1998Date of Patent: May 23, 2000Assignee: Marker Deutschland GmbHInventors: Edwin Lehner, Gerhard Sedlmair, Werner Messerschmidt
-
Patent number: 5984344Abstract: A binding has a carrier arrangement having at least one elongated portion, which extends in the longitudinal direction of the ski, is flexurally rigid and/or can be subjected to shearing. A first region of the carrier arrangement, is fixed to the ski, a second region is spaced apart from said first region in the longitudinal direction of the ski and is coupled, or can be coupled, compliantly to the ski. The carrier arrangement alters the bending properties of the ski to change the stiffness of the ski and/or damp vibrations of the ski.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1998Date of Patent: November 16, 1999Assignee: Marker Deutschland GmbHInventors: Otto Harsanyi, Edwin Lehner, Werner Messerschmidt, Piero Ruffinengo, Premek Stepanek

Patent number: 5746439Abstract: A spacer-plate arrangement that influences the vibration behavior of a ski. The spacer-plate arrangement having a rear spacer-plate part with a flexurally rigid, plate-type flat continuation portion that projects into a cutout on the front spacer-plate part.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 1995Date of Patent: May 5, 1998Assignee: Marker Deutschland GmbHInventors: Alfred Boehm, Edwin Lehner, Werner Messerschmidt

Patent number: 5725235Abstract: A ski boot is supported vertically on a ski by means of a rigid support member, approximately in alignment with the longitudinal axis of the tibia of the skier's leg. The support member increases the ground pressure of the center region of the ski.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 1995Date of Patent: March 10, 1998Assignee: Marker Deutshcland GmbHInventors: Alfred Boehm, Werner Messerschmidt
-
Patent number: 5704628Abstract: A device for providing a ski with additional stiffness with respect to bending in the transverse and longitudinal directions of the ski. The stiffening elements which provide the stiffening may be combined with ski bindings.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1994Date of Patent: January 6, 1998Assignee: Marker Deutschland GmbHInventors: Alfred Boehm, Werner Messerschmidt

Patent number: 5533744Abstract: A brake spur for a ski brake arm, which at a free end possesses a transversely extending, plate-shaped extension. The plate-like extension makes an angle with the longitudinal axis of the brake spur and forms a gripping member with a brake edge. In order to enhance the manner of operation of the brake spur, a transversely extending shaped body is molded on the brake spur in front of the plate-like extension to provide an additional brake edge.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1994Date of Patent: July 9, 1996Assignee: Marker Deutschland GmbHInventors: Alfred Boehm, Werner Messerschmidt, Gerhard Sedlmair

Patent number: 5501483Abstract: The invention relates to a toe piece for an automatic release ski binding. The toe piece is comprised of an upper housing and a base plate which is connected at one end with the upper housing. The upper housing and the base plate are additionally connected by at least one connecting element. In order to allow automatic adjustment of the sole holder to different heights and a reverse release, at least one end of the at least one connecting element is journaled either in the upper housing and/or in the base plate, with the intermediate placement of a resilient material. Alternatively, the connecting element itself is constructed of resilient material.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1993Date of Patent: March 26, 1996Assignee: Marker Deutschland GmbHInventors: Premek Stepanek, Gerd Klubitschko, Werner Messerschmidt

Patent number: 4685696Abstract: The invention relates to a front piece for safety ski-bindings. The front piece comprises a supporting member which can be pivoted sideways. Linked to the support member are side clamps for engaging the toe of a ski boot in order to hold the ski boot in the front piece of the safety ski-binding. The side clamps are releasable when a predetermined force is applied to the side of the ski binding. The binding of the present invention will automatically reset after the side clamp is released and the boot is free from the binding. An advantage of the mechanism of the present invention is that internal friction is minimized during the release/reset operation. This is achieved in part by the side clamps being designed such that they are extended beyond their respective points where they are pivotally attached to the supporting member.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1985Date of Patent: August 11, 1987Assignee: Marker InternationalInventors: Gerhard Sedlmair, Walter Knabel, Werner Messerschmidt

Patent number: 4477102Abstract: A cross country ski binding is provided with a tensioning yoke for engaging over the front upper edge of the boot sole to secure the toe of the boot against lifting off a base plate which is to be fixed to the sole and is provided with upright prongs for engaging in appropriate holes in the underface of the sole of the boot. The tensioning yoke is mounted in side flanges of the base plate and secured in the closed position by a spring-biassed locking lever. In order that the tensioning lever is in its readiness position in the unsecured condition and after release by the locking lever, it is subjected to the force of a retaining spring which seeks to hold it in the open position.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 1982Date of Patent: October 16, 1984Assignee: Marker-PatentverwertungsgesellschaftInventors: Walter Knabel, Werner Messerschmidt
