  • Patent number: 5555784
Abstract: A lathe tool having a cylindrical shaft and a head with a contact surface which rests against a support surface on the shaft. The tool head is detachably connected in force-locking fashion by means of a fitted screw to the tool shaft. The contact surface and the support surface are disposed at an acute angle to the axis of the shaft and have mutually engaging straight tooth systems which extends over the whole cross-section of the shaft. The parallel teeth of the tooth system are perpendicular to the direction of slope of the support and contact surfaces and parallel to a surface disposed with its axis parallel to that of the tool head and including an indexable cutting insert.

  • Patent number: 5307714
Abstract: The device of the invention has a supporting body detachably fixed to a machine spindle, a head element detachably fixed to the supporting body, and at least one slide which can be moved substantially at right angles to the axis of rotation of the head element and which carries a tool or tool carrier. The radial motion of the slide is produced by the action of an axially moving actuator rod and gear means. In addition, there is in the supporting body a coolant channel for hydraulic fluid. The inlet end of the channel is connected to an opening in the spindle and the outlet opens out in the head element. For the operation of the slide, the supporting body has two cylindrical bores disposed coaxial to the axis of rotation and a certain distance apart and in which two rigidly linked pistons are located which can be connected to the actuator rod.

  • Patent number: 5251511
Abstract: The invention concerns an adjustable tool for use in machine tools, with a slide (14) which can be fitted with at least one cutting tool and which can be displaced relative to the rotating main body (10) perpendicularly to the axis of rotation. The invention also calls for a device (20) for the direct measurement of the displacement of the slide (14), the slide being fitted with an electronically read measurement scale (24). This device comprises battery-powered data-processing electronics (20) and is located inside the main body (10). The displacement reading can be presented on a digital display (26) which is also mounted in the tool head.

  • Patent number: 5188490
Abstract: A tool for use in machine-tools with a cutting head (14) has at least one interchangeable cartridge (24) which can be releasably fastened to the cutting head and which carries an interchangeable insert. The interchangeable cartridge can be adjusted on the cutting head in the advance direction of the insert by the action of an adjustment mechanism. The adjustment mechanism has a tapered ram (46) which can move along a guide (42) of the cutting head (14) arranged parallel to the plane of the insert and essentially perpendicular to the advance direction of the cutting head (14). The tapered ram has a tapered surface (44) which is inclined at an acute angle to the direction of sliding and which is contiguous with an inclined shoulder (54) of the interchangeable cartridge which makes a right angle, in the direction of the inclined tapered surface, with the advance direction.

  • Patent number: 5137401
Abstract: A device for connecting two tool parts having a common axis. The device includes a fitting pin projecting axially from the first tool part and a connecting sleeve projecting from the second tool part and having a mating bore for receiving the fitting pin. A tightening mechanism equipped with a tightening bolt movable in a crossbore of the fitting point assures a sufficient planar surface to planar surface tightening between the two tool parts. Aside from the tightening in direction of the tightening bolt, a clamping of the fitting pin into the mating bore of the connecting sleeve is achieved through suitable measures, the clamping extending transversely with respect to the tightening-bolt direction and resulting in an automatic centering of the tool parts with respect to their common axis and in a reinforcement of the connection transversely with respect to the tightening-bolt axis.
