  • Patent number: 4978207
Abstract: A traffic mirror comprises a spherically curved glass pane having a front surface, a rear surface, and an outer periphery, a metal reflective layer located on the inner surface of the glass pane, and a decorative frame located directly on the glass pane. The decorative frame is an enamel-like colored material which is baked onto the outer periphery of the glass pane. The traffic mirror further comprises a supporting structure for mounting the traffic mirror onto a vertical post. The supporting structure comprises at least two supporting struts which, are attached directly to the glass pane, for example, by bolts passing through bores in the glass pane itself. The glass pane is made from thermally prestressed single pane safety glass. The traffic mirror does away with the bulky frames used in prior art mirrors of this kind.

  • Patent number: 4701240
Abstract: A calendering device has a plurality of pressure rollers and an opposing plurality of counterpressure rollers, each rotatably mounted on a piston rod movable in a direction for permitting the pressure rollers and counterpressure rollers to approach one another to calender a product. The pistons of the piston rods are mounted within pneumatic casings and are moved by a diaphragm within the pneumatic casings. There is no contact between the pistons and the walls of the pneumatic casings, thereby reducing the frictional resistance to the movement of the rollers. Means are provided for equalizing the pressure applied to a roller and its corresponding counter roller. Separate pneumatic casings and diaphragms may be provided for each piston rod, or several of the pressure rollers or countepressure rollers may be moved by a single diaphragm, which can be in the form of an elongated hose.

  • Patent number: 4151940
Abstract: Apparatus for automatically loosening the marginal strip from a sheet of contour-cut glass with a minimum of edge defects comprises, in substance, a horizontal conveyor; a tracing assembly of cutting tools disposed above the conveyor for marking off auxiliary cutouts subdividing the marginal strip; and separation means comprising pressing tools for pressing the sheet in such a manner as to apply a bending moment along the auxiliary cutouts. The pressing tools are arranged opposite the margins both on their upper face and their lower face, and they bear on either side of the auxiliary cutout lines in order to exert bending moments along each. As a consequence, the apparatus generates a progressive breaking stress whereby separation of the margins is effected starting from an area external of the actual contour cutout line before spreading along the contour. The result is a particularly clear-cut edge.
