  • Patent number: 4120796
Abstract: An inclined plate clarifier, adapted for generally vertical flow of liquid to be clarified through inclined flow passages formed by parallel spaced apart plates, includes flow regulating channel means arranged at either or both inclined ends of the flow passages to assist in regulating liquid flow in the passages. Influent for the clarifier is preferably introduced through a separate influent chamber which is in communication with a sediment collection chamber to permit settled solids at the bottom of the influent chamber to pass directly into the sediment collection chamber, inclined plates also being arranged within the influent chamber to facilitate flow distribution and the settling of solids therein. Slave plates are also disclosed for insertion between relatively fixed clarifier plates in order to provide an increased number of narrower inclined flow passages.

  • Patent number: 4120797
Abstract: An inclined plate clarifier adapted for horizontal flow of liquid to be clarified through flow passages formed between inclined plates, the clarifier being constructed to facilitate assembly, installation and cleaning. The clarifier includes inlet and outlet means at opposite ends of the inclined clarifier plates with baffles and restrictions for regulating flow of the liquid to be clarified. The clarifier also includes transversely arranged interface plates for regulating the passage of separated materials from the flow passages, slave plates being selectively employed to vary the width of the clarifier flow passages between the inclined plates.

  • Patent number: 4089782
Abstract: Various improvements in a clarifier having inclined flow passages, the clarifier being capable of reversible operation wherein liquid to be clarified may be selectively caused to flow either upwardly or downwardly through the flow passages. The clarifier has channels adjacent the tops of the flow passages for collecting a relatively low density phase and a unique flow control trough simultaneously regulating liquid flow through a manifold above the flow passages while also forming an outlet passage for the low density phase. A vertical flow manifold with an overflow arrangement regulates flow between the lower ends of the flow passages and a flow conduit external of the clarifer. Means at either end of the flow channels may collect multiple phases, an intermediate phase preferably being recycled to improve either the rate or quality of clarification.
