  • Publication number: 20020147968
Abstract: A method for emulating a program-controlled unit, in which an application program executed by the program-controlled unit can be interrupted in order to execute a debug sequence by which actions that are useful or required for the emulation are executed. The method is distinguished by the fact that the execution of the debug sequence is initiated by the application program. As a result, even program-controlled units that are used for time-critical applications can be emulated as desired and without disrupting the system containing the program-controlled unit.

  • Patent number: 5796987
Abstract: In an emulation device for emulating a target system with a system emulator to which an external emulator probe is connected, which has located therein a central processing unit and which is plugged into the target system in place of the target system processor in order to connect the target system with the system emulator, the functional units of the system emulator for performing time critical functions are combined into an integrated module and moved to the probe.
