  • Patent number: 4873060
Abstract: In a process for the preparation of aromatic polyesters by polycondensation of diphenols with chlorides of aromatic dicarboxylic acids by the two-phase interfacial polycondensation process, in which a dispersion as the reaction mixture is prepared from an aqueous phase, which contains the diphenolate formed with the aid of alkali metal hydroxide, and an organic-liquid phase containing the acid chlorides, this dispersion is passed, in the apparatus which is intended for carrying out the process and which comprises a reaction kettle and a dispersing device included with the latter in a circulation, through the dispersing device and the reaction kettle, the acid chloride dissolved in a largely anhydrous chlorinated solvent being continuously fed into this circulation at a point which, in the direction of flow, is upstream of the dispersing device.

  • Patent number: 4698941
Abstract: A frame, in particular for dome shaped roofs, is made up of support sections which run together at junction points where they are joined together; rectangular hollow sections are employed as the support sections and at each junction point two dish-shaped plates at least one of which features a hole providing access by hand to introduce joining means such as threaded bolts, locking ring bolts to attach the ends of the hollow sections to the round plates.

  • Patent number: 4446195
Abstract: An organic, high-molecular weight polyester containing substantially chain members of the formula--O--X--O--Y--wherein X is at least one member of the group consisting of ##STR1## and Y has the formula ##STR2## having an inherent viscosity of at least 1.0 dl/g, preferably at least 1.2, dl/g measured at 30.degree. C. in a solution of 0.5 g of the polyester in 100 ml of a mixture of 60% by weight of phenol and 40% by weight of 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane and whose films cast from a chlorinated organic solution have an elongation at break of at least 10%, preferably at least 20%, measured according to ASTM D-882-75 b with the proviso that if the inherent viscosity is between 1.0 dl/g and 1.5 dl/g, Y is a mixture of 70 to 30% of terephthalic acid and 30 to 70% of isophthalic acid having excellent properties for electrical insulation as well as other fields.

  • Patent number: 4430493
Abstract: In an improved process for the preparation of aromatic polyesters by polycondensation of diphenols with aromatic dicarboxylic acid halides such as isophthalic acid chloride and/or terephthalic acid chloride, by a two-phase interface polycondensation method wherein a fine dispersion is produced from an aqueous phase consisting of a solution of diphenol, alkali metal hydroxide for the formation of the alkali metal diphenolate in a stoichiometric ratio or in a slight excess and a phase transfer catalyst like triethylbenzylammonium chloride, tetrabutyl ammonium iodide or crown ether in a mixture of water and an organic solvent as a solubilizer with the organic liquid phase consisting of a solution of the acid chloride in a halogenated solvent, where the diphenolate, transferred to the liquid phase by the phase transfer catalyst, reacts with the acid chloride in a polycondensation reaction for the formation of the polyester, and the polyester formed remains dissolved in the organic phase the improvement comprising
