  • Patent number: 5321987
Abstract: A cranking arrangement has a rotor, an output shaft driven by a rotor, a pinion carried by the output shaft for driving a toothed ring of an internal combustion engine, the output shaft being supported so that it can be displaced axially for engagement and disengagement of the pinion, and a brake surface. The output shaft acts upon the rotor in a disengaged position axially in such a way that the rotor meets the brake surface.

  • Patent number: 5317933
Abstract: The starting device, particular a freely disengaging starting device, has an electric motor, the rotor of which drives a driven shaft which has a pinion for driving the gear ring of an internal combustion engine, in which the driven shaft end section carrying the pinion is supported in a face wall of the housing. For a compact structural form, in particular a short form, the driven shaft (6) is supported with its other end (23), via a first bearing (needle bearing 37) in a central aperture (166) of a free-wheel outer ring (35), the surface (164) of which is supported via a second bearing (deep groove ball bearing 38) on the housing (2) of the starting device (1). The associated end (25) of a rotor shaft (17) of the starter rotor (5) is supported via a third bearing (needle bearing 31) on the end section of the driven shaft (6) which lies in the interior of the housing (2).

  • Patent number: 5245881
Abstract: A starting device has a pinion for a drive of a toothed rim of an internal combustion engine, an engaging relay having an armature which axially displaces the pinion, a free wheel device and a stator rotor in which the pinion cooperates, a locking device which prevents a pre-engagement of the pinion in an unexcited state of the engaging relay. The locking device has a stationary locking element which engages behind a part actuated by the armature for securing a rest position of the pinion. The armature has a tappet on which a control sleeve is arranged. The locking element is formed as a first spring provided with at least one undercut step and deflectable in a release position by the control sleeve arranged on the tappet of the armature.

  • Patent number: 5073071
Abstract: A shaft stop bushing (1) is proposed which is retained in a given position on a shaft (6) by means of a radially resilient stop ring (12). The stop bushing (1) has a longitudinal bore (4) with two circular grooves (7 and 11) of different diameters, between which a funnel-shaped section (10) is formed. The stop ring (12) is inserted in the larger groove (11) so that stops bushing (1) and stop ring (12) form a pre-assembled subassembly (1, 12). The preassembled subassembly (1, 12) can be slid onto the shaft (6) by a simple automatized process without the stop ring (12) touching the shaft (6). The stop ring (12) is retained in its axial position relative to an annular groove (16) of the shaft (6) and is pressed into the annular groove (16) by the stop bushing (1) upon further axial movement of the stop bushing. The entry funnel-shaped section (10) presses the stop ring (12) until, in the assembled state, the smaller-diameter circular groove (7) engages over the stop ring (12).

  • Patent number: 4304172
Abstract: A servo mechanism for adjusting the position of a biased control member of a sliding ring for controlling pressure fluid in a main conduit of a hydraulic machine, comprises a manually adjustable sleeve, a setting piston arranged for reciprocating movement in the sleeve and being hydraulically connected thereto to resume a position preset by the sleeve, a follower piston coupled between the setting piston and the biased control member of the recoiling device, a control pressure space provided above the follower piston, a unidirectional first control conduit delivering a regulating stream of pressure fluid from the main conduit to actuate the setting piston, a second control conduit between the main conduit and the pressure space, and a flow controlling valve controlled by pressure in the first control conduit for equalizing pressure between the pressure space and the main conduit thus allowing override of the setting piston during the pressure setting operation.

  • Patent number: 4077745
Abstract: A pump has a rotatable rotor carrying a plurality of radially-extending pistons bearing at their outer ends on an annular adjustment ring which can be displaced radially in the pump housing by means of a pair of diametrically opposed adjustment cylinders that serve to displace this ring and adjust the stroke of the radial pistons in the rotor. One of the adjustment pistons is of larger diameter than the other and both of the adjustment pistons are spring-biased against the outer periphery of the adjustment ring and both have throughgoing bores so that pressure behind these adjustment pistons is fed to pressure-relief pockets at their inner ends against the adjustment ring. The small-diameter piston is provided in its through-going passage with a pressure-limiting valve which only allows pressure past to its respective pressure-relief pocket when pressure behind the smaller piston exceeds a predetermined minimum which is approximately a tenth of the maximum pump operating pressure.
