  • Patent number: 4241695
Abstract: A method for the generation of a brush of developer powder at a magnet cylinder of a developing apparatus in a copying machine, for the development of a latent image, generated particularly electrostatically wherein developer powder is being thrown at least partly directly at the magnet cylinder in distribution over the length of this magnet cylinder and optionally passing this brush through a narrow gap. In the developing apparatus at least one scoop wheel or one or several pairs of scoop wheels rotating in an inclined plane and being partly immersed in a supply of developer powder serve to throw developer powder at the magnet cylinder for the generation of the brush of developer powder thereon. With the scoop wheel may be associated a worm conveyor and baffles.

  • Patent number: 4213617
Abstract: A sealing assembly for a developed station in a copying machine for sealing apertures in a casing wall of the developer station to prevent developer powder, including magnetizable particles, from escaping into the housing of the copying machine establishes an effective permanent non-friction and wear-free seal at casing wall apertures such as casing openings through which rotating shafts or other movable members extend. The seal consists of magnetic members in the vicinity of an aperture for establishing a magnetic field barrier across the aperture. The magnetic members consist of permanent magnets or of solenoids in the configuration of strips, discs, triangles, rings or wedges. Optionally a cover member straddling the aperture, may cooperate with the magnetic barrier members.

  • Patent number: 4144839
Abstract: A developing apparatus for developing a latent image, particularly an electrostatically generated latent image on a drum type carrier in a copying machine, wherein a magnet drum carrying a developer powder brush rotates relative to the carrier in close proximity thereof, the feed means for supplying developer powder to the magnet drum including a hollow cone-type pump for throwing developer powder onto an inclined baffle sheet extending toward a bottom portion of the periphery of the magnet drum.

  • Patent number: 3995589
Abstract: A developing device for electrophotographic copying machines using a powder developer avoids the problems associated with a flap-controlled distribution aperture in a hopper holding powder for transfer to an image transfer drum by using a sliding plate-type shutter to control the powder flow. The aperture lies adjacent to the apex of the drum and in a plane inclined to the horizontal. The shutter in its sliding movement is guided against the lower longitudinal edge of the aperture, and the leading edge of the shutter, in its closing movement, moves in an upward path slicing into the powder stream. The shutter is preferably held against the guide of the aperture by the force of spring means acting on the shutter.

  • Patent number: 3989168
Abstract: In a copying machine, a container holds toner to be sprinkled on the selenium drum. Toner to replenish the amount consumed in making copies is directed from a supply vessel through a rotary slide valve into an inlet duct for the container. A container pocket for holding the toner supply vessel is mounted on and is rotatable with a part of the valve so that it can be located in an upper and a lower position. In the upper position the valve opens into the inlet duct, however, in the lower position the valve closes the opening into the duct and the supply vessel can be removed from the container pocket.

  • Patent number: 3964429
Abstract: A device for replenishing the developer material in a copying machine comprises a supply reservoir with a roller, preferably having a flocculent surface, acting as a bottom closure therefor, the roller being driven from a shaft associated with developer conveyor means of the developing unit. Each movement step of the roller is a consequence of a revolution of the shaft. A ratchet and pawl mechanism, preferably controlled by a solenoid, links the shaft and roller. The device may also include adjustable timing means which ensures that a preset developer replenishment is always effected even if the copying machine stops.
