  • Patent number: 6439411
Abstract: A container closure system comprises a container having an opening zone (21) with a threaded neck (22). A closure cap (23) can be screwed on the threaded neck (22). A warranty element comprises an annular base body (25) with engagement means which can engage matching engagement means (38) in the opening zone (21) of the container. The warranty element also comprises one or more indicator elements (27) shaped as circle segments and linked each by a predetermined breaking strip to the base body (25). The closure cap (23) has at least one axial projection (34) which can be inserted between the ends of the indicator elements (27) shaped as circle segments or between the ends of two adjacent indicator elements (27) in order to secure the indicator elements (27) against rotation to the closure cap (23). When the closure cap (23) is unscrewed, these axial projections (34) break the predetermined breaking strips, separating the indicator elements (27) shaped as circle segments from the base body (25).

  • Publication number: 20020002373
Abstract: For guiding at least two sutures through a wall of a membrane, of a balloon or of a surface, in particular of an artery of an individual, in the vicinity of the edge region of an opening provided therein and for drawing back out of the abovementioned opening the suture ends guided through the relevant wall, the invention provides a shaft-like suture-guide device which, in its longitudinal direction, contains a rear suture-feed part (3), a front suture-accommodating part (4) and a central suture-release/suture-clamping part located therebetween; the central suture-release/ suture-clamping part (5) can be expanded in one axial direction such that that membrane, balloon or surface or vessel wall of an artery of an individual which is located in the region of the relevant central suture-release/suture-clamping part (5) is thus subjected to tensioning, on account of which those edge regions of the abovementioned wall which are provided transversely to said tensioning direction draw together toward one another.

  • Patent number: 6034320
Abstract: A roof panel incorporating a solar power generator, for a motor vehicle sunshine roof, has a foamed plastic frame around the edge of the panel and a plurality of crystalline solar cells forming a field of solar cells extending considerably into the region of the frame. Special precautions ensure that the crystalline solar cells, which are susceptible to breakage, are not damaged when foaming around the cover to form the frame. The solar cell field enables good use of solar energy and can be accommodated in a lightweight panel.

  • Patent number: 5805065
Abstract: A magnetic security marker of an article surveillance system is deactivated by first determining the status of the marker by exposing it to the interrogating field. If the marker is active, a deactivation field is applied to the marker. The marker is again interrogated using the interrogating field and, if an active marker is detected, an incrementally increased deactivation field is applied. The marker is continually interrogated and, as long as an active marker is detected, the intensity of the field is incrementally increased until the field reaches a level effecting deactivation.

  • Patent number: 5210524
Abstract: The invention is related to a process of deactivating a magnetic security marker of an article surveillance system, wherein the security marker is detected by simulating conditions normally present in such a system, e.g., by creating between a transmitter and a receiver a sinewave electromagnetic field and the deactivating the security marker by means of the electronically switchable magnetizing apparatus in response to the detection of the magnetic field which corresponds to the magnetization of the security marker in the surveillance zone. It is the object of the invention to enable the magnetic security marker to be deactivated using any alternating power line. To this end, the magnetic system is automatically connected to a power line without circuit change when the security marker is detected.

  • Patent number: 5165896
Abstract: A clamping arrangement for clamping a cylindrical shaft of a tool in a dental handpiece includes a clamping sleeve having resilient tongues for gripping the cylindrical shaft and being capable of being moved radially outward by an adjustable plunger to release the shaft. In order to achieve a largely wear-free tool guidance, the tool shaft is held at least at its distal end of the tool in a guide bushing, which is firmly joined to the hollow shaft. The guide contains an arrangement which enables axial mobility of the plunger, prevents twisting of the plunger so as to enable transmission of the force between the plunger and a manipulator which actuates the plunger.

Abstract: A deuterium lamp with a quartz glass bulb for spectral analyzers is disclosed. At least the portion of the quartz glass bulb through which the radiation produced passes is provided on its outer surface with a multiple interference filter layer; the physical layer thickness of each layer is in the range from 10 to 70 nm. The multiple layer comprises atlternating aluminum oxide and silicon dioxide, or magnesium fluoride. The interference filter layers are preferably vapor-deposited in a vacuum.

  • Patent number: 4910431
Abstract: To protect the quartz of a quartz glass bulb (2) from attack by alkaline earth oxides emitted from electrodes (6) of the lamp, and prevent deterioration of the quartz in use of the lamp with respect to transmission of ultraviolet (UV) radiation, particularly in the short wave length range of 200 nm to 250 nm, boron silicate glass or glass-like aluminum oxide, or a mixture of boron silicate glass and glass-like aluminum oxide is interposed between the quartz bulb (2) and the electrodes. Boron oxide can be applied to the interior of the quartz bulb, and fired thereon to form, for example, a boron silicate glass layer (4) or diffuse into the quartz glass to form a diffusion layer (4') by suitable selection of firing temperatures. Alternatively, an aperture support element (35, 45) can retain a disk of boron silicate glass or glass-like aluminum oxide positioned between the electrodes and the quartz glass bulb.

  • Patent number: 4874314
Abstract: A socket, which receives a tool having a cylindrical shaft and which is mounted for rotation to rotate the tool, has an outer sleeve which receives a clamping sleeve and a ram for engaging a first end of the clamping sleeve. The first end of the clamping sleeve is provided with slots defining resilient tongues which are moved from a clamping position radially outward to a position for releasing the shaft by engagement with the ram. The ram has either an outer conically tapered surface or partially conically outer tapered surfaces on projections which engage inner tapered surfaces of each of the tongues or fingers. Preferably, the tapers of the ram and fingers are selected so that only substantially a line contact is formed therebetween to reduce the force necessary to move the fingers or tongues radially outward to the declamping or disengaging position.

  • Patent number: 4648784
Abstract: An improvement of a device for protecting manipulators against collision with other objects. Two discs are held in spaced relationship by spacer balls applied thereagainst on the periphery. The discs are urged toward each other and the gap is adjustable. If due to a collision, the position of the spacer balls is changed, the discs move toward each other, thereby causing actuation of a switch and a disconnection of the drive.

  • Patent number: 4647081
Abstract: A ball catch coupling for releasably connecting two parts which permits relative rotation of the parts in the connected conditions as an annular section carried on one of the parts with a number of uniformly disposed bores at a periphery thereof, balls respectively received and rotatable in each of the bores, a closed resilient ring surrounding the balls, an annular groove in the annular section which receives the ring and permits limited axial displacement and free rotation thereof within said groove, and the other part to be connected having an annular groove which at least partially receives the ring and the balls when the two parts are connected. The limited displacement and free rotation of the ring with respect to the annular section permits engagement and disengagement to be undertaken particularly easily and with low wear.

  • Patent number: 4237939
Abstract: A stackable tapered tube body has an annular inwardly directed bead or corrugation in the region of the sealant layer. This provides that the tube bodies do not touch each other directly and that in particular the sealant layer is protected when tube bodies are stacked together. The beads or corrugations are produced by the tube shell being gripped substantially over its entire periphery, and deformed.
