  • Patent number: 6181861
Abstract: In an arrangement for producing a branch in a telecommunications cable (1) containing several stranded elements with optical fibers, at least one stranded element is cut, the optical fibers of the stranded element are spliced to the optical fibers of a branch line (2), and the branched area is protected with a sleeve (3). The branch line (2) comprises a number of optical fibers, each of which is loosely arranged by itself in a small plastic tube (10). A predetermined length of the tube (10) is removed from approximately the middle of the optical fiber elements, and each optical fiber (13) from which the tube (10) has been removed is stored in a cassette (12). The cassettes (12) are stored in a container (5). The sleeve housing (4) is stored in a container (5). The sleeve housing (4) with the cassettes (12) and the branch line (2) with the optical fibers (13) located in the tube (10) are a unit which is prefabricated at the factory.

  • Patent number: 5956450
Abstract: In a device for holding a number of cassettes of which at least one stores a length of optical fibers, at least one holder is provided for the cassettes wherein the cassettes are arranged horizontally and in parallel. Each cassette (4) can be pulled out individually from lateral guides (5) in the holder (3). Separated from the holder (3), a guide block (7) with a number of superimposed attachment points (13) for the optical fibers or conductors is attached to it. The inlet and the outlet (14) for the optical fibers or the conductors are arranged on the side of the cassette (4) which faces the guide block (7).

  • Patent number: 5956230
Abstract: A device which houses the active and passive nodal point modules of telecommunication installations in the ground comprises a metal container with a removable cover and a removable support for the modules housed in the container. The modules are attached in a heat-conductive manner to the internal surface of the support. The support is made of heat-conductive material and its external surface has a number of cooling fins. Through the cooling fins, the support makes heat-conductive contact with the internal surface of the container.

  • Patent number: 5753863
Abstract: An arrangement for sealing the inlet area of a substrate extending lengthwise in a housing, preferably a communications cable in a sleeve, has the following features:a) a tube (3) in the form of an elastomer hyperboloid is placed on a cable and has plastic moldings (4,5) at each of its ends firmly attached to the tube (3);b) the elastomer tube (3) is under lengthwise-axial pressure, so that the central portion of the tube (3) is firmly pressed against the substrate (2) surface,c) the tube (3) with its attached moldings (4,5) is located in a hollow body (9), which maintains the lengthwise-axial pressure; andd) the hollow body (9) is attached to the inlet area of the housing (1) and is sealed with respect to the inlet opening.

  • Patent number: 5733614
Abstract: An arrangement for tightly enclosing a substrate with a heat-shrinking plastic sleeve (1), which has thickened sections (2, 3) along its longitudinal edges, has at least two rails (4, 5) pushed on the sleeve (1) after it has been placed around the substrate. The rails hold the longitudinal edges of the sleeve (1) together before, during and after the heat-shrinking. The two rails (4, 5) form a junction area and S-shaped profiles (6, 7) are placed in the junction area on both sides of the thickened edge sections (2, 3) and are enclosed by both of the rails (4, 5).

  • Patent number: 5727100
Abstract: A device is described for connecting two electric aerial cables. Each aerial cable has tube, containing optical fibers, which is cabled with electric conductors and strength member. Means are provided for the mechanical and electrically conductive joining of the electric conductors and strength members of the two cables. A sealed splice carrier for receiving the spliced connections of the optical fibers comprises two concentric tubes (7, 9) with a annular gap between them. The annular gap is sealed at both ends. The optical fibers are inserted into the annular gap through apertures in the end seals (8). The spliced connections and a length of optical fibers are stored in the annular gap. The splice carrier (5) surrounds the means (21, 3) for the mechanical and electrically conductive joining and is attached to the electrically conductive joining means (3) or to the aerial cables (1).
