  • Patent number: 4396564
Abstract: A method of manufacturing tablets in a press having a rotary die plate cooperating with a filling device including a rotary filling wheel and a rotary dosing wheel arranged on top of the die plate, and a plurality of die plungers each projecting into an assigned die in the plate, and further including means for adjusting the vertical position of the plunger; the method comprising the steps of adjusting the rotational speeds of the filling and dosing wheels to a value at which minimum variations of compressing forces take place, comparing a predetermined range of variations of the compressing forces with the measured actual values and adjusting the weight of the tablets in process by readjusting the vertical position of the plunger in response to the ascertained difference, and thereafter readjusting the rotational speeds of the wheels to minimize the variations of the readjusted compressing forces.

  • Patent number: 4238431
Abstract: In a tablet press which includes a rotary disc provided with a plurality of dies and pistons engaging from below the dies, a filling wheel and a metering wheel arranged for a simultaneous rotation on the upper surface of the disc in the range of the dies, a vertically adjustable cam track on which the pistons ride, an electronic device for measuring pressing forces in the dies and control means for generating control impulses in response to the range of variations of the consecutive pressing forces, a method of producing uniform tablets by adjusting the rotary speed of the wheels according to the control pulses to minimize the variations of the pressing forces and subsequently adjusting the vertical position of the cam track and thus the weight of the tablets according to additional control pulses generated by comparing the average value of the measured compressing forces with a predetermined desired value.

  • Patent number: 4219320
Abstract: The preforming press of the type having a rotary die disc cooperating with a stationary filling device including a housing provided with a filling funnel for charging the molding material, comprises cooling conduits surrounding the filling funnel and the walls of the housing to cool the molding material immediately before its compression in the die. A separate cooling device is provided for introducing cooled air into respective dies in the disc.

  • Patent number: 4167380
Abstract: An apparatus for the manufacture of multilayer articles has a plurality of female dies mounted in a rotary disc. A plurality of feeding devices equal in number to the number of layers in the articles to be manufactured is distributed about the rotary disc. Each feeding device admits a quantity of material into the female dies as these travel by. A compressing device is arranged downstream of each feeding device as seen in the direction of movement of the female dies. The compressing devices compress the material admitted into the female dies by the respective feeding devices and also cause the various layers of material to adhere to one another. When the required number of layers has been formed, the resulting article is ejected from the respective female die. One or more of the feeding devices is movable to an inoperative position in which it is unable to feed the female dies. This movement may be effected while the female dies rotate.
