Patent number: 7097518Abstract: A contact terminal, by means of which an annular connector or two connectors may be gripped, is described. The contact terminal comprises a housing with a pivotally mounted terminal element which may be biased onto a contact face mounted on the housing at a contact region. A holding element is provided in the contact region, to prevent a connector inserted into the contact terminal from being pulled out in the lateral direction. The terminal element has a terminal face to grip the connector against the contact face.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2005Date of Patent: August 29, 2006Assignee: Tyco Electronics AMP GmbHInventors: Rudolf Kraemer, Werner Tille

Patent number: 6786779Abstract: An electrical plug connector having a lower part and a cover which form a housing. At least one terminal point having a receiving pocket is formed within the lower part and the cover. A sub-assembly including a spring tension clamp having an arcuate tension spring, for making contact with electrical conductors, and a conductor rail having a contact region for receiving a mating contact is positioned in the receiving pocket. The cover has an actuator passageway and an angled guide projection extending into the actuator passageway for guiding an actuating tool to actuate the clamp. The angled guide projection is constructed as a web, the arcuate tension spring of the clamp has an aperture, and the angled guide projection reaches through the aperture as the cover is engaged with the lower part placed over the contact sub-assembly.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2003Date of Patent: September 7, 2004Assignee: Tyco Electronics AMP GmbHInventors: Guenter Feldmeier, Rudolf Kraemer, Werner Tille, Karl-Heinz Hess, Markus Bollenbach, Christian Schrettlinger

Patent number: 5908326Abstract: The invention relates to an electrical connector with a housing (1) of insulating material and a metal contact element (2) fittable in the housing (1). The contact element has a crimp contact region (4) to contact a first cable end (11) and a cutting clamp contact region (3) to contact a second cable (12). Such an arrangement is not suitable for contacting cables of different diameters via the cutting clamp contact region. According to the invention, the cutting clamp contact region (3) has two tension-relieving regions (5, 6), with the cutting clamp blades, which are fitted opposite one another in pairs (7, 8, 9, 10), arranged between them. Two pairs of cutting clamp blades (7, 10) are provided for small-diameter cables and two pairs (8, 9) are provided for large-diameter cables. The pairs of cutting clamp blades (8, 9) for small-diameter cables are arranged between those for large-diameter cables.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1998Date of Patent: June 1, 1999Assignee: The Whitaker CorporationInventors: Robert Neuhauser, Rudolf Kraemer, Martin Franz Felix Maluche, Werner Tille

Patent number: 5605479Abstract: The connector comprises an insulative housing having a conductor connection section on one side of the panel and a mating section on the other side of the panel. The conductor connecting section comprises terminals arranged in two adjacent rows that are offset to provide a compact zig-zag arrangement. The terminals are separated by upstanding walls that form slots on the sides of the connector for receiving ring-tongue terminals that are clamped to the terminals by screws. To ensure a sufficient insulation between adjacent terminals, the walls must be made sufficiently long. In order to enable a compact juxtaposed assembly of connectors to a backpanel, the separating walls are slanted thereby forming a zig-zag outer profile of the connector sides such that sides of adjacent connectors interengage.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1994Date of Patent: February 25, 1997Assignee: The Whitaker CorporationInventors: Rudolf Kramer, Christian Schrettlinger, Werner Tille

Patent number: 5580286Abstract: A connector assembly comprises a housing and a clamping screw for clamping connection of ring tongue terminals to terminals of the connector assembly. The clamping screw comprises a flanged portion for, on the one hand clamping down on the terminal, and on the other hand engage against a shoulder of the housing when in the raised, disconnected position to prevent removal of the clamping screw from the housing. A U-shaped metal plate inserted in a housing slot transverse to the clamping screw, provides a second thread means to enable raising the clamping screw away from the mating clamping nut to allow unobstructed insertion of the ring tongue terminal therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1995Date of Patent: December 3, 1996Assignee: The Whitaker CorporationInventors: Rudolf Kramer, Werner Tille
