  • Patent number: 4801173
Abstract: A removable folding roof for a motor vehicle, especially for a passenger motor vehicle, which extends between a windshield frame and a roll bar and which includes laterally disposed longitudinally extending girders, several struts extending parallel to the girders and a roof covering. The folding roof is detachably retained at the windshield frame and at the roll bar by means of locking mechanisms. To achieve an effective support of the folding roof and a simple assembly operation for latching and tensioning the folding roof to the vehicle body, the longitudinally extending girders are placed on the upwardly extending tensioning levers of the locking mechanisms which are then pivoted downwardly along with the edges of the top to a latched position. An automatic tensioning of the folding roof in the vehicle transverse direction and simultaneous latching of the roof to the vehicle body is achieved by the pivoting of the tensioning lever to a lowered position.

  • Patent number: 4611849
Abstract: A convertible top for a passenger motor vehicle with a top cover includes a rear wall window formed by a flexible windowpane. In order to provide a rear wall window that responds to the requirements during summer and winter operation, the flexible windowpane is constructed to be removable and interchangeable with a fixed-glass windowpane. The fixed-glass pane is provided at an edge facing the body with plug-in elements which cooperate with receiving and mounting devices arranged on the side of the body. Additionally, the fixed-glass pane is retained at the body by means of at least one disengageable locking mechanism and is connected to adjacent body parts.

  • Patent number: 4553784
Abstract: A convertible top arrangement with a main roof column which is adapted to be displaced from a closed (up) position into an open (down) position by means of a linkage arrangement. In order for the main roof column to be moved into a position recessed within the vehicle body, the main roof column includes a lever section, on which is provided the pivot of the main roof column and a joint, whereby a first guide lever engages at the pivot and a second guide lever at the joint; both guide levers being supported at the body.

  • Patent number: 4552401
Abstract: A folding roof for vehicles, especially passenger motor vehicles, is detachably secured at a windshield frame and at a roll bar bridging the passenger space and is essentially composed of laterally disposed longitudinally extending girders, of a plurality of struts arranged between the longitudinal girders extending generally parallel to the girders and a flexible roof covering, connected to and supported by the longitudinal girders and the struts. In order to create a folding roof which, with lowest possible weight, has a high form rigidity, i.e., strength, and which when folded-together requires as low as possible a structural height and which is also utilizable more individually, alternately form-rigid struts and elastic struts are arranged to extend in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle in such a manner that nonreinforced sections of the covering between the struts are minimized.

  • Patent number: 4352521
Abstract: A vehicle body construction comprising a mounting element with a threaded member attached to a body wall of an automotive vehicle that serves for the attachment of an assembly part includes a plate having a threaded aperture which is inserted into limiting sections forming part of the body wall and is retained therein by a plurality of stops, at least one of which is formed by a bendable tongue.

  • Patent number: 4243261
Abstract: A body for motor vehicles, such as automobiles, with a sliding roof having a frame bottom is disclosed. The frame bottom is reinforced by at least one indentation and constitutes a rigid supporting structure at least with a portion of the transverse and longitudinal supports of a supporting structure located below the roof of the vehicle whereby the roof is prevented from being pushed in, endangering the passengers, in the event the vehicle should overturn.

  • Patent number: 4212050
Abstract: A retractable searchlight for vehicles of the type which is movable from a working position to a retracted position includes at least one searchlight supported by a supporting device mounted upon a shaft which is rotatably driven by a motor. The supporting device is formed of at least two members, a first of which is secured to the shaft for movement therewith and a second of which is secured to the searchlight and is mounted so as to be displaceable relative to the shaft. Between the first and second members a disengagement means is located for enabling the second member connected to the searchlight to be displaced with the first member between the working a retracted positions during normal operation and for disengaging the first member from the second member when the searchlight encounters a resistance so that continued movement of the searchlight is interrupted thereby precluding injury to the arrangement or persons standing nearby.

  • Patent number: 4121478
Abstract: A retractable headlight arrangement for motor vehicle includes a driving device for driving the headlight between its retractive position and its upright, in-use position. Driving device includes a rotatably driven crank which is mechanically coupled to a shaft for rotating the headlight, and includes a locking engagement mechanism for operating a locking mechanism for the headlight during a dead-position portion of rotation of the rotatably driven crank.
