  • Patent number: 6598938
Abstract: In the case of a locking device for a vehicle seat, in particular for a vehicle seat adjuster, which locking device acts between at least two adjuster parts of the vehicle seat adjuster, which adjuster parts can be adjusted relative to each other, having a first toothed element (11) which is assigned to a first adjuster part, a second toothed element which is assigned to a second adjuster part, at least one clamping element (21) which, in a locked state of the locking device, keeps the two toothed elements (11) in engagement with each other, and at least one intercepting element (30) which, in the event of a crash, supports the first toothed element (11) by means of at least one intercepting surface (31, 32, 33, 34), the intercepting element (30) has at least two intercepting surfaces (31, 32, 33, 34).

  • Patent number: 5312158
Abstract: A hinge joint for use between the body supporting portion and the pivotable back rest of a seat has a first leaf which is affixed to the body supporting portion, a second leaf which is affixed to the back rest, and a pintle which pivotably connects the second leaf to the first leaf. In order to reduce friction during pivoting of the second leaf, the latter is provided with a sleeve-like central portion which is surrounded by an antifriction bearing installed in the cylindrical portion of a cupped motion transmitting member of the pintle. A smaller-diameter portion of the motion transmitting member is surrounded by two wedge-like arcuate sections which are biased by a torsion spring against a cylindrical internal surface of the first leaf to reduce radial play between the leaves. Friction between the external surfaces of the sections and the internal surface can be reduced by coating some or all of these surfaces with a lubricant.

  • Patent number: 5308294
Abstract: A hinge joint which can be installed, for example, between the body supporting portion and the back rest of the seat in a motor vehicle has a first leaf affixed to the body supporting portion, a second leaf affixed to the back rest and a horizontal pintle which pivotally connects the second leaf to the first leaf. The actuating mechanism for pivoting the second leaf comprises a pair of wedge-like sections which are biased apart to bear against the balls and/or needles of one or more antifriction bearings between the first leaf and the sections. The sections flank a motion transmitting member which is moved about the axis of the pintle in order to release the second leaf for angular movement relative to the first leaf. A centering element can be installed next to the sections between the first leaf and a sleeve of the second leaf, and the bearing or bearings can extend between such centering element and the first leaf.

  • Patent number: 5188571
Abstract: A jointed fitting is described for vehicle seats comprising a planetary gear enabling the two fitting parts joined by a joint axle to be pivoted relative to each other, a second gear wheel (6) with an external toothing engages a first gear wheel (5) with an internal toothing. Both gear wheels (5, 6) have an involute toothing. Their teeth (7, 8) have a rounded-off head and the number of teeth of the second gear wheel (6) is slightly less than that of the first gear wheel (5). That point on the tooth flanks of the first gear wheel (5) at which the flank section extending along an involute passes into the flank section formed by the rounding-off of the head lies on a circle, the diameter (d.sub.el) of which is chosen so as to be at least approximately the same as the base circle diameter (d.sub.bl) of the first gear wheel (5). The top circle diameter (d.sub.al) of the first gear wheel (5) is smaller than its base circle diameter (d.sub.bl).

  • Patent number: 5127286
Abstract: An adjustment device for seats, particularly motor vehicle seats, having a transmission, particularly a planetary gear transmission, and further including a drive shaft (2) which can be rotated by a drive device (4) coupled therewith. The mass moment of inertia acting on the drive shaft (2) can be increased by at least one mass body (15) that is operatively connected with the drive shaft (2).

  • Patent number: 4930841
Abstract: A back-rest adjuster with a free pivot device for a vehicle seat comprises between a drive device and the gearing which adjusts the fitting parts (5, 6) in relation to each other a shiftable clutch which has to be released for free pivoting and which comprises two clutch parts (13, 14) adpated for movement in an axial direction and in relation to each other. Associated with one clutch part and adapted for movement together with and disposed concentrically in relation to it is a memory ring (15) disposed between a drive ring (19) which is non-rotatable in relation to one fitting part (6) and a ratchet ring (21) which is non-rotatable in relation to the other fitting part (5). The memory ring (15) and the drive ring (19) which, when the clutch is released, are capable of limited rotation in relation to each other, are form-lockingly coupled to each other only in one single position at the end of the range of rotation, when the clutch is closed.

  • Patent number: 4685727
Abstract: A vehicle seat has a back rest and support surface for supporting the vehicle user, in which at least one portion of the support surface facing the seat user forms at least the outside of a wall, the inner side of which wall borders at least one channel through which air flows. The wall is at least substantially impermeable to air at the pressure prevailing in the channel and comprises a material which, when there is a drop in the water vapor partial pressure from the outside to the air flowing through the channel, transfers water vapor in the direction of this partial pressure drop.

  • Patent number: 4470318
Abstract: An arrangement for adjusting a seat of a vehicle has a plurality of adjusting elements arranged to adjust the position of the seat, a drive motor, and a distributing transmission provided within the drive motor and the adjusting elements and including a plurality of driven shafts having gears and connected with the adjusting elements, and at least one intermediate gear driven by the motor, wherein the distributing transmission includes a stepping transmission arranged so that, with a selectable step, the stepping transmission brings the intermediate gear into driving engagement with a gear of a respective one of the driven shafts, and the intermediate gear is fixed in this position without preventing its rotation about its axis.
