  • Patent number: 9338668
Abstract: In a wireless communication system, carrier aggregation may be used to provide desired amounts of bandwidth, where a primary carrier and one or more secondary carriers are aggregated. At the receive side of a system in which the aggregated carriers are in a single frequency band, an amplifier may be used to apply a common gain to the aggregated carriers in the single frequency band, and the common gain may be determined as a function of indications of received signal quality associated with groups of aggregated carriers containing one or more of the aggregated carriers, where one group contains the primary carrier and possible one or more secondary carriers and another group contains only secondary carriers.

  • Patent number: 9137757
Abstract: A wireless communication device includes: an antenna for receiving inbound signals on dual receive channels and transmitting outbound signals on dual transmit channels; a transceiver coupled to the antenna to receive the inbound signals from the antenna and convey the outbound signals; a power controller coupled to the transceiver to control power levels of the outbound signals so a maximum nominal power level of the outbound signals is a first power level; and a processor coupled to the transceiver and the antenna to cause the power controller to control the power levels of the outbound signals so if a power level of a received one of the inbound signals is below a threshold value, then the maximum nominal power level of the outbound signals is a second power level lower than the first power level, wherein the second power level is lower than the first power level.

  • Publication number: 20150118981
Abstract: A method and apparatus of internal measurement of voltage standing wave ratio in a transmitter includes providing power to hardware comprising the transmitter, transmitting a signal from the transmitter, sampling the signal in both a transmitted feedforward direction toward an antenna and a reflected direction from the antenna, and computing in a processor associated with the transmitter the voltage standing wave ratio on the basis of the feedforward and reflected sampled signals. A method of calculating a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) in a transmitter includes storing, in a memory associated with a processor associated with the transmitter, a captured feedforward signal from the transmitter to an antenna, storing, in the memory, a captured feedback signal reflected from the antenna, and calculating the VSWR in the processor on the basis of the stored transmitted and reflected signals.

  • Publication number: 20070242784
Abstract: A diversity receiver capable of receiving a CDMA system (e.g., a W-CDMA system) and a TDMA system (e.g., a GSM system), with receive diversity for at least one system, is described. W-CDMA is often referred to as UMTS. In one design, the diversity receiver includes a first receiver for GSM and a second receiver for UMTS. The first receiver may be implemented with one receiver design, may be spec-compliant for GSM, and may also support UMTS. The second receiver may be implemented with another receiver design, may be spec-compliant for UMTS, and may also support GSM. The first receiver may include a lowpass filter having a bandwidth that is adjustable for GSM and UMTS. The second receiver may include a bandpass filter used to attenuate a transmit frequency range for UMTS. Each receiver may include circuit blocks that are used for both GSM and UMTS.

  • Publication number: 20070045955
Abstract: The present invention is a modified chess game providing a method for isolating and focusing the more intense tactical use of the knight, thus improving a player's proficiency in their use and improving the game of chess game overall. The rules have been simplified resulting in a simpler and shorter game. A player's total arsenal consists of eight knights, three pawns and one king, forcing intensive use of the knights. This in turn improves a player's skill level and coordinated use of the knights when playing chess normally. This inventive training method is suitable for beginner or chess master. Enabling this is a permanently demarked area on the new board called the ‘kings vale’ governing the kings movements while providing limited shelter to an opponent piece and is the area for ‘knighting’ or adding knights to a players pieces.

  • Publication number: 20060277161
Abstract: The present invention comprises a computerized method for indexing information through the use of a general-purpose computer in operative communication with a data stream. A data stream is read, wherein the data represents one or more transitions within one or more episodes. A signature is created for each of the episodes within the data stream, wherein the signature is a representation of the transitions. The steps are repeated for each of the episodes in the data stream. An index is created comprised of the signatures.
