  • Patent number: 4670194
Abstract: A carburetor including a fuel inlet and first air inlet delivering fuel and air to a location at which they are intermixed, and from which they flow toward an outlet of the device, with additional air being introduced into the stream through a second air inlet at a location downstream of the fuel inlet and the first air inlet. A fuel metering valve may deliver fuel to the fuel inlet in precisely measured fashion, with the fuel being supplied to the metering valve by a pressure regulator. The second air inlet may include an air valve assembly having sleeves with apertured side walls which are relatively rotatable to vary the rate of delivery of air through that valve assembly. Full vaporization of the fuel may be enhanced by introduction of air into the stream or streams of intermixed fuel and air at other locations along a circuitous path or paths followed by the fuel air mixture.

  • Patent number: 4158468
Abstract: A safety wheel for trucks or other motor vehicles, including a safety flange which is detachably connectable to the tire mounting rim of a wheel body, with the flange having a mounting portion preferably received radially between the rim and a bead of the tire, and with the flange extending generally radially outwardly at the outside of the tire to a peripheral edge which is of a diameter slightly less than the external diameter of the tire to normally be out of engagement with the road surface, but to contact that road surface and effectively support the vehicle in the event of deflation of the tire. The safety flange is desirably retained on the rim by a resilient split retaining ring removably received within an annular groove formed in the wheel body, and with further retention of the safety flange by a series of circularly spaced screws extending outwardly through the wheel body and connecting to the safety flange.

  • Patent number: 4153302
Abstract: A safety wheel for a truck or other motor vehicle, having a safety flange which is attached to a wheel body at essentially the location of its tire mounting rim, with the safety flange desirably being located at the axially inner side of the tire and projecting generally radially outwardly to a peripheral edge which is of a diameter sligthly less than the inflated diameter of the tire and is adapted upon deflation of the tire to engage the road surface and support the vehicle therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4068833
Abstract: A torch having a body carrying valves for controlling the flow of fuel and oxygen, with a conduit structure projecting from the body and carrying a two-section swiveling head assembly mounting a nozzle for swinging movement between different angular settings. The two hinge sections are both made relatively short as compared with the length of the conduit structure, in a relation enabling optimum adjustment of the angularity of a produced flame within a wide range of angles, without excessively displacing the actual position of the flame relative to the body of the torch and a work piece. One of the hinge sections is preferably attached rigidly to the conduit structure, and is made small enough in transverse dimension to enable an outer tubular housing part to be received about and moved axially past that hinge section during assembly, to a location about the mentioned conduit structure.

  • Patent number: 4036476
Abstract: A winch for automatically taking up slack or looseness in a chain or the like and including a reel element having a ratchet mechanism for normally permitting rotation of the reel in only one direction, together with a power operated actuating unit which advances the reel and ratchet mechanism rotatively through successive steps in a take-up direction and is retractable in an opposite direction relative to the reel after each advancement step and in preparation for the next successive advancement. Automatic control means, desirably an automatic valve arrangement, cause such retraction of the power actuated unit in response to its arrival at a predetermined advanced position.

  • Patent number: 3975003
Abstract: A pipe cutter including a wheeled carriage which mounts a torch and rolls circumferentially about a pipe so that the torch can progressively make a cut thereabout. The carriage may be held snugly to the pipe by a chain or rope and take-up mechanism, and be advanced about the pipe by a crank unit detachably mounted to the pipe.
