  • Publication number: 20080014344
Abstract: A labeling apparatus is configured for applying a label onto a moving object. The apparatus includes a label delivery mechanism having a fixed reference point and configured to hold the label in a fixed position relative to the fixed reference point. The label delivery mechanism is operable to deliver the label onto the object. A first adhesive applicator includes a first adhesive discharge and is positioned and arranged to dispense adhesive onto a first portion of the label. A second adhesive applicator includes a second adhesive discharge and is positioned and arranged to dispense adhesive onto a second portion of the label during contact with the label. The first adhesive discharge and the second adhesive discharge are maintained at respective fixed positions relative to the fixed reference point.

  • Publication number: 20070029036
Abstract: A labeling apparatus and method for applying individual labels onto individual objects moving along a conveyor includes a label delivery mechanism configured to hold a plurality of the labels and operable to deliver individual ones of the labels adjacent to the conveyor. A non-contact adhesive spray applicator including at least one nozzle having a plurality of individual adhesive discharge orifices may be positioned and arranged to discharge adhesive from the orifices onto either the labels or the objects such that the labels may be respectively adhered to the objects.

  • Publication number: 20050067112
Abstract: A method of applying adhesive to major and minor flaps of a container in a siftproof adhesive pattern. A pair of adhesive dispensing guns are moved with respect to the flaps of the container as the container is conveyed past the guns. Electric actuators, such as linear modules or rotatable servo modules, are used to rapidly accelerate the guns in a direction perpendicular to the path of the container along a conveyor. In this manner, rapid packaging takes place and reliable siftproof patterns are achieved using minimal adhesive.

  • Patent number: 5389151
Abstract: An interchangeable adhesive dispensing system adaptable for use in contact or non-contact adhesive dispensing includes a gun body, an adapter and a clamp which threadably connects to the gun body by bolts to compressively hold therebetween either a nozzle plate used for non-contact dispensing or a doctor blade assembly used for contact dispensing. To changeover from one type of dispensing to the other, the clamp is loosened so that the nozzle plate or doctor blade assembly may be removed from between the adapter and the clamp, a new nozzle plate or doctor blade assembly is located between the adapter and the clamp, and the clamp is tightened to the gun body.

  • Patent number: 5335825
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dispensing multiple, closely spaced beads of viscous liquids such as hot melt thermoplastic adhesive is provided which comprises a dispensing device including a nozzle assembly having a nozzle body connected to a nozzle plate carrying a number of closely spaced nozzle tips. The nozzle body is formed with an internal adhesive flow passage terminating with an elongated distribution channel having an outlet. A number of comparatively small diameter discharge passageways are formed in the nozzle plate, each connected to one nozzle tip, and structure is provided for transferring the adhesive from the elongated distribution channel in the nozzle body into each of the discharge passageways, against the influence of gravity, for discharge from the nozzle tips as individual extruded beads.
