  • Patent number: 5601386
Abstract: A cutter body includes an elongate, generally cylindrical chuck for gripping a cylindrical cutter, an annular cutting fluid gland surrounding the chuck, and retaining means for securing the gland longitudinally on the chuck. The cutter has a longitudinal bore therethrough defining a fluid passageway. The chuck has a longitudinal bore at least partially therethrough for gripping the cutter and defining a fluid passageway. The bore of the chuck is in fluid communication with the bore of the cutter. The chuck includes opposed ends and a medial portion disposed between the opposed ends. The medial portion includes longitudinally spaced-apart, circumferential lands which define bearing surfaces for engaging the inner surface of the cutting fluid gland. The medial portion has an opening therein defining a fluid passageway. The gland has an opening therein defining a fluid passageway.

  • Patent number: 5076122
Abstract: A cutting insert having four symmetrically located cutting edges is mounted on a cutting insert holder, which is in turn mounted on a rotary driver. One of the cutting edges projects out from the cutting insert holder. The rotary driver rotates the projecting cutting edge along a circular path. A tube end to be finished is held in contact with projecting cutting edge being colinear with the centerline of the tube. A plurality of cutting insert holders each has a cutting insert mounted thereon with the respective projecting cutting edges being located at varying distances from the axis of rotation. The design of the cutting edges also varies. Tube ends having different radii, wall thicknesses, cross section, or chamfers are finished by successively mounting on the rotary driver the cutting insert holders having projecting cutting edges located the required distances from the axis of rotation and having the appropriate designs.

  • Patent number: 5071293
Abstract: Barrel casing attached to the housing of a hand-held drill. A retractable guide arm is cantilevered from one end of the barrel casing. The cantilevered end of the guide arm has a passageway for the drill bit, and thereby guides it. A rate limiter is attached to the other end of the barrel casing and in axial alignment with it. On the inside of the barrel casing, the rate limiter is connected to the guide arm by abutment.

  • Patent number: 4530625
Abstract: An improved hydraulic stop for use with drilling and countersinking tools. The stop limits the penetration of the tool into the workpiece by dwelling at a pre-set depth while the machine spindle continues to travel (feed) through a hydraulic override system.A safety relief valve, pre-set to a safe load, will permit the device to collapse or override if the hydraulic or mechanical override system should fail.
