  • Patent number: 7171703
Abstract: A track assembly for flexible pool covers. The track assembly includes track members, and securing pieces for being secured to the pool deck and for splicing the track members together in an end-to-end series. The securing pieces are designed to reside beneath, and to be concealed by, the tracking members. The securing pieces may be attached to a pool deck with fasteners, after which the track members may be snapped downwardly onto the securing pieces to thereby secure the track members to said securing pieces. The track members conceal the securing pieces, and the fasteners that secure the securing pieces to the pool deck, thereby providing an aesthetic appearance of continuous tracking uninterrupted by fasteners, fastener holes, or other through holes. This arrangement prevents the fasteners from coming loose and posing a risk to barefooted bathers, because the upward movement of the fasteners is inhibited by the track members that reside above the fasteners.

  • Patent number: 7114297
Abstract: A modular rounded corner piece for forming rounded corners of a pool. The modular rounded corner piece may include a plate portion and a liner receptor portion. The liner receptor portion may include a channel formed by a top wall and a bottom wall. The channel may align with a pool liner receptor slot in the coping around the perimeter of the pool. Thus, a continuous liner receptor slot may be formed around the interior circumference of the pool for receiving an edge of a pool liner thereinto. The modular rounded corner piece may be installed on the pool sidewall to provide a gapless alignment between the liner receptor on the pool sidewall and the liner receptor in the rounded side of the corner plate.

  • Patent number: 6862756
Abstract: A walk-on tray apparatus for concealing a pool cover operation system, is disclosed. A plurality of brackets each having a load-bearing upper portion may be attached to a sidewall of an elongate recess formed at one end of a pool, such that the load-bearing upper portions of the brackets extend in a substantially horizontal orientation. A plurality of platform sections each include a mortar veneer, a tray with an attachment plate removably disposed beneath an under side of the tray, and a nut-tightening arrangement, such that the load-bearing upper portions may be securely sandwiched between the under side of the tray and the attachment plate. The platform sections may reside in a side-by-side, sequential series. The mortar veneer may be formed directly on the tray, and the facade may be modified and customized to match the appearance of the perimeter sections of a pool deck. The veneer may be composed of mortar, resin and negligible amounts of fiberglass particles, forming an elastic composition.

  • Patent number: 6622318
Abstract: A pool cover system including a pool cover collecting drum supported for rotation on its ends and a drive gear connected to the drum by a drive shaft. A power gear is operably connected to a portable electric drill by a power shaft, engaging the drive gear. Upon activation of the drill, the collecting drum rotates retracting the pool cover. A complementary apparatus on the same side of the pool, such as a rope reel collecting apparatus having an engageable drive gear and a drive shaft connected to a reel, extends the pool cover over the pool by pulling on a rope attached to a rigid end of the pool cover. The pool cover is extended and retracted with the sides sliding in one channel of a dual channel track, allowing the cover to serve as a safety cover.

  • Patent number: 6526604
Abstract: A track assembly for flexible pool covers. The track assembly includes several track members, and splicing pieces for splicing the track members together in an end-to-end series. The splicing pieces are designed to reside beneath, and to be concealed by, the tracking members. The splicing pieces are attached to a pool deck with screws, after which the track members are snapped down onto the splicing pieces and held in place by said splicing pieces. The track members conceal the splicing pieces and the screws that hold the splicing pieces to the pool deck, thereby providing an aesthetic appearance of continuous tracking uninterrupted by screw holes. Such an arrangement also prevents the screws from coming loose and posing a risk to barefooted bathers, in part because at least some upward movement of the screws is prevented by the track pieces that reside directly above the screws.

  • Publication number: 20010023506
Abstract: An apparatus for retracting a pool cover from over a pool, or extending a pool cover over a pool, includes a pool cover collecting drum supported for rotation on its ends, and a drive gear connected to the drum. A power gear for engaging the drive gear is operably connected to a portable, battery operated electric drill by a power shaft. When the drill is activated, the drive gear rotates the pool cover collecting drum to collect and retract the pool cover from over the pool. The pool cover is placed back over the pool by operation of a complementary apparatus on the opposite side of the pool, such as a rope spool collecting apparatus having an engageable drive gear. The gear-driven spool pulls on a rope attached to a rigid end or carrier of the pool cover. As the pool cover is extended and retracted it slides in a track, allowing the cover to serve as a safety cover. The gears may be located in a sealed housing filled with lubricant.
