Patent number: 5092044Abstract: A guide bar for a chain saw having interior channels for conducting fluid to a nose end of the bar. The channel conducts fluid to the nose end of the bar where a sprocket is rotatably mounted. The sprocket has grooves formed in each side of its body for injecting fluid received from the center channel into the supporting bearing surface in the bore of the sprocket. The grooves are configured to inject fluid to the bearing surfaces regardless of the direction of sprocket rotation. The grooves which have open tops also provide for fluid flow between the side of the sprocket body and the side laminates of the sprocket nose. The grooves also provide an exit for fluid to flow out of the bearing surface as the grooves are positioned opposite the center channel as the sprocket is rotated. The flow of fluid through the grooves into the bearing area and the flow of fluid between the sprocket and the side laminates provides a hydraulic wall to prevent entry of contaminants into the sprocket.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1991Date of Patent: March 3, 1992Assignee: Blount, Inc.Inventors: John L. Patent number: 4932434Abstract: An adjustable pressure relief valve is disclosed comprising a valve body having an inlet and an outlet, a spherical valve seat associated with the inlet, a valve member having a mating spherical sealing surface configured to seal off the flow of fluids through the valve at the valve seat, a huddling chamber around the periphery of the mating spherical sealing surface, an adjustment screw supported in the valve body to allow rotational but not longitudinal movement of the adjustment screw with respect to the valve body, a compression member connected to the adjustment screw and mounted within the valve body which moves longitudinally with respect to the adjustment screw when the adjustment screw is rotated and a resilient member biased between the compression member and the valve member. In the preferred embodiment, the mating spherical sealing surface is provided by staking a spherical ball inside a cavity in the valve member, leaving portion of the ball exposed.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 1989Date of Patent: June 12, 1990Inventor: Wesley L. Patent number: 4799506Abstract: An adjustable pressure relief valve is disclosed comprising a valve body having an inlet and an outlet, a valve seat associated with the inlet, a valve member configured to seal off the flow of fluids through the valve at the valve seat, an adjustment screw supported in the valve body to allow rotational but not longitudinal movement of the adjustment screw with respect to the valve body, a compression member connected to the adjustment screw and mounted within the valve body which moves longitudinally with respect to the adjustment screw when the adjustment screw is rotated and a resilient member biased between the compression member and the valve member. In the preferred embodiments, a connection between the adjustment screw and the valve member aligns the valve member with the valve seat. Also, the adjustment screw provides an unchanging stop surface to limit the lift of the valve seat as well as inside diameter guiding to prevent buckling of a helical spring used as the resilient member.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1988Date of Patent: January 24, 1989Inventor: Wesley L. Patent number: 4566486Abstract: In a poppet-type relief valve, including a housing having a spring guide assembly axially biasing a valve toward a seat in its inlet passageway, a soft valve seat member is coaxially disposed in the inlet passageway. The soft seat member includes a rigid surface limiting movement of the spring urged valve toward the inlet passageway and further includes a resilient ring seal positioned adjacent the rigid surface in a manner to be cushion contacted by and form a bubble tight seal with the spring urged valve before the valve contacts the rigid surface.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1984Date of Patent: January 28, 1986Inventors: Julian S. Taylor, Wesley L. Taylor

Patent number: 4436109Abstract: A liquid level control utilizing magnetic repulsion for raising and lowering a lever for venting or closing a gas pressure supply path to move a valve assembly, in the gas pressure supply path, in a relay-type snap action for opening or closing a valve controlling the liquid input and output of a vessel in response to the rise and fall of a float assembly with the liquid level.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1983Date of Patent: March 13, 1984Inventor: Wesley L. Patent number: 4312226Abstract: A comparator for selecting from two air sources, air which requires less energy to condition includes a humidity and a temperature sections for comparing relative humidities and dry-bulb temperatures of air from each of the sources. Each section comprises two chambers separated from each other by a diaphram which is displaceable in the direction of the chamber having a lower pressure. A temperature post is attached to the diaphram of the temperature section and a humidity post is attached to the diaphram of the humidity section. The pressure in each of the chambers is determined by the pressure signal generated by a transmitter and it indicates the sensed condition. The post of the humidity section coacts with the post of the temperature section to give an output signal indicating which of the two air sources has a lower enthalpy except that when the humidity of the outside air is lower than that of the return air. In that instance, the temperature section alone determines the output signal.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1979Date of Patent: January 26, 1982Assignee: Mark Controls CorporationInventors: Harold P. Patent number: 4252270Abstract: An improved thermostat having two modes of operation selected by a pressure signal from a central source, which includes a separate set point for each mode of operation. Each set point has a scale which is clearly visible without removal of any parts of the thermostat. Each set point is also adjustable either by an adjuster that can be operated by occupants or only by authorized personnel having a tool fitting the opening in the set point adjustor. Adjustors can be provided with restrictors which limit set point adjustment to a predetermined range of temperatures and which can be adjustable by authorized personnel, or can be factory set.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1978Date of Patent: February 24, 1981Assignee: Mark Controls CorporationInventors: Wesley L.
