    Abstract: An apparatus for accurately sensing room conditions and positioned in the air stream to the return air plenum. The apparatus is a combination of a temperature and volatile organic compound (VOC) sensor. The sensor module is built into a ceiling grid system with the body of the sensor module extending into the return air plenum. The ceiling grid has a slot fabricated into its face which allows the air stream from the room to flow by the sensors on its way to the plenum. This enables both the temperature and the composition of the air to be monitored at the optimal location. A portable pollution sensor device that measures and monitors leading indicators of indoor air quality and the extent of pollution is used in conjunction with the ceiling grid mounted sensor modules. The portable device documents and benchmarks air quality both in buildings under construction and in existing buildings. The portable device is network-enabled so as to simultaneously transmit the data to various control devices.

    Abstract: An apparatus for mounting a flat panel sound radiator into a tegular ceiling. The tegular ceiling has openings defined by main beams and crossbeams. The main beams are secured through hanger wires to a hard ceiling. The main beams and the crossbeams have flanges with the crossbeams resting on the flanges of the main beams. The mounting apparatus has a tegular frame with reveal edges formed by multiple horizontal and vertical plates. A flat panel radiator is mounted inside a tegular frame with the lower edge of the tegular frame below the flanges of the main beams. The radiator panel can be fabricated from a honeycomb core. A combination of containment elements and isolation elements are used to isolate the radiator panel from the tegular frame both mechanically and acoustically. An acoustic scrim is attached to the bottom of the tegular frame.

The apparatus essentially comprises a ceiling truss having a main beam and at least one standoff connected to and projecting laterally from the main beam. A truss cable is anchored at the ends of the beam and extends over the standoff to form a cable truss configuration for providing support to the beam. The truss cable can be electrified, wherein a lighting fixture may be attached to adjacent cables for illuminating a room below.

    Abstract: An apparatus for mounting a flat panel radiator into a ceiling grid. The ceiling grid system includes openings defined by main beams and crossbeams. The main beams are secured through hanger wires to a hard ceiling. The main beams and the crossbeams have flanges with the crossbeams resting on the flanges of the main beams. The mounting apparatus has a frame including a top plate, a side plate, and a bottom plate, containment elements and isolation elements attached to the frame, and an acoustically transparent scrim attached to the bottom of the frame. The flat panel radiator is mounted between containment elements and isolation elements. The radiator panel can be fabricated from a honeycomb core. The containment elements may be made from a stiff to resilient material, whereas the isolation element will always be resilient to vibration isolate the radiator panel from the ceiling grid system both mechanically and acoustically. The flat panel sound radiator assembly can also be installed in wall partitions.

A vertical section is supported at the edge of the lower ceiling and an attached angular section rises from the lower edge at a slope to reach and contact the upper ceiling. The general shape approximates a trough with one vertical and one sloped side. The lower edge of the vertical section and the upper edge of the angular section can include flanges and attached coupling channels which interlock with drywall adapters to facilitate attachment to drywall ceilings.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to a transition element for use between an upper ceiling level and a lower ceiling level to form a two-level or multi-level ceiling. The transition element has a configured surface, particularly a curved surface. The transition element is mounted with the top of the curved surface located adjacent the plane of the upper ceiling level and the bottom of the curved surface being located in the plane of the lower ceiling level so that the curved surface forms a transition surface between the two ceiling levels. The transition element is held in position by the ceiling runners used to hold the ceiling boards in position.
