  • Patent number: 11460170
Abstract: A luminaire includes a lightguide panel that is configured to receive light from a light source through an edge thereof and emit light through major surfaces thereof. Further, the luminaire includes an electrochromic film that is disposed on one of the major surfaces of the lightguide panel to adjust an amount of light exiting through the one major surface by controlling an opacity of the electrochromic film. The opacity of the electrochromic film is controlled by controlling an electrical power supplied thereto. In another example, the electrochromic film is disposed on a major surface of a lens that is disposed below and spaced apart from a light source that emits light in a first direction. The opacity of the electrochromic film is controlled by controlling the electrical power supplied thereto to adjust an amount of light that is reflected by the lens to a second direction.

  • Publication number: 20200208804
Abstract: A luminaire includes a housing that houses a light transmission unit therein. The housing includes a back plate that has an uplight opening. The uplight opening is covered by a detachable panel that is removably coupled to the back plate. The light transmission unit includes a lightguide that receives light through the side edges and emits light through the major surfaces thereof. Further, the light transmission unit includes a reflector panel. In one example, the reflector panel is detachable to form an opening that allows light from the lightguide panel to pass through. In another example, the reflector panel includes patterned openings that allow light from the lightguide panel to pass through. The reflector panel is disposed in between one of the major surfaces of the lightguide panel and the back plate. The reflector segment and detachable panel comprise uplight features that are configured to provide uplight.

  • Publication number: 20190301689
Abstract: A lighting system can include a light fixture and module removably connected to the light fixture. The light fixture can include a fixture housing having at least one fixture wall that forms a fixture cavity, where the fixture housing further includes a first connecting feature disposed in the at least one fixture wall. The light fixture can also include a first light fixture component disposed within the fixture cavity and electrically connected to the first connecting feature. The module can include a module housing having at least one device wall and a second connecting feature disposed in the at least one device wall, where the second connecting feature is removably connected to the first connecting feature. The module can also include a module component that is electrically connected to the light fixture component when the first connecting feature and the second connecting feature are connected to each other.
